Fox News host Tucker Carlson and guest Mark Steyn engaged in a funny back and forth, where Carlson called his guest “Mike,” while Steyn countered to call the host of Tucker Carlson Tonight “Martha” — as in network colleague Martha MacCallum.
The exchange was prompted by a gaffe from former Vice President Joe Biden, who just referred to “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace as “Chuck.”
Joking that Biden had just been endorsed by Mao Tse-tung and Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria, Steyn noted that the candidate was “in pretty good shape for Super Tuesday,” but even there the former vice president stumbled, as he referred to the pivotal day in the 2020 Democratic primary as “Super Thursday” on the stump Monday.

Not that Steyn is sold on Biden’s performance on Sunday.
“I don’t actually believe that ‘Chuck’ business, who is Chris Wallace,” he explained. “I would not be surprised if the comeback coot isn’t actually putting this on just to head fake Bernie [Sanders]and [Mike] Bloomberg into not taking him seriously.”
Carlson opened the segment by playing a clip of Biden’s gaffe on “Fox News Sunday.”
“Mr. Vice President, thank you. Thanks for your time,” Wallace said as be brought the interview to a close. “Please come back in less than 13 years, sir.”
“All right, Chuck. Thank you very much,” Biden replied.
“All right,” Wallace replied, with a laugh. “It’s Chris, but anyway.”
Biden then explained that “I just did Chuck,” which would be a reference to NBC’s “Meet the Press” anchor Chuck Todd.
“Chris, I just did Chris. No, no, I just did Chuck,” Biden said. “I tell you what, man, these are back-to-back. Anyway, I don’t know how you do it early in the morning.”
In effect, Biden walked blindly into the nickname President Donald Trump has for him, “Sleepy Joe.”
Steyn shared with Carlson that Biden is the perfect candidate for political minders who control what politicians say.
“For the minders, a candidate who’s completely lost his mind is actually the perfect candidate,” he said, adding the more Biden flubs, “the more he actually demonstrates to the minders in the party that he’s the perfect empty vessel for their various machinations.”
We should “expect a lot more of this,” Steyn cautioned.
At this point, the Biden gaffes are coming so quickly that it’s hard to keep up.
As conservative actor James Woods tweeted Monday in response to Biden horribly mangling the Declaration of Independence: “Make it stop. It is now cruelty.”

At a rally Monday night in Charlotte, N.C., President Trump mocked Biden for the “Super Thursday” remark, while also ribbing him for a blunder last week about what race he’s in.
” I though he gave up the presidency the other day because he said he was running for the Senate,” Trump said, before commenting on Tuesday’s mix up.

Biden had told a crowd in South Carolina: “I’m a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate. Look me over. If you like what you see, help me out; if not, you can vote for the other Biden. Give me a look, though.”
