Billionaire Mike Bloomberg belittled Americans who say they need to protect their rights to self-defense via the Second Amendment and protesters subsequently stood up to him on live TV.

Instead of airing President Trump’s rally in North Carolina Monday evening, Fox News televised a Bloomberg town hall in Manassas, Virginia, on the eve of the Super Tuesday primaries. Democrat-run Virginia, of course, is at the center of the left’s ongoing efforts to strip Second Amendment protections away from everyday citizens, and Bloomberg is known to be an ardent gun-control proponent.

So it was no surprise when an emotional gun rights supporter in the audience, Clarke Chitty, in his turn with the microphone, asked Bloomberg, “How do you justify pushing for more gun control when you have an armed security detail that is likely equipped with the same firearms and magazines that you seek to ban the common citizen from owning? Does your life matter more than mine or my family’s or these people’s?”

The audience followed that query with loud cheers of support.

Then, after Bloomberg’s condescending and even sarcastic response, a small number of protesters with signs stood up and circled the stage, bringing the telecast to a temporary halt and a commercial break while security swept in. Watch the audience’s displeasure with the former mayor’s answer and the protest as it broke out …

Going back to the question and Bloomberg’s full answer–in essence, the billionaire candidate’s lofty importance is the reason he warrants protection, while those living in crime-ridden neighborhoods around the country cannot be trusted, Bloomberg said, while also claiming that he would not change the Constitution, saying, “even if you wanted to he wouldn’t be able to get it done.”

“Look–I probably get 40 or 50 threats every week and some of them are real. That just happens when you are the mayor of New York City or you are very wealthy, and if you are campaigning for president of the United States you get lots of threats. I have a security detail and I pay for it all myself. They are all retired police officers who are very well trained in firearms,” he said.

“Let me talk about firearms for a second,” he continued. “The Second Amendment gives you the right to bear arms. Nobody suggests that we’re going to change the Constitution, even if you wanted to I don’t think you’d be able to get it done, so nobody’s going to take away your right to bear arms. The Supreme Court said you can have reasonable restrictions. The only restrictions which I’m in favor of is to prevent us from selling guns to people with psychiatric problems, criminals or people that are minors.

Bloomberg went on to falsely claim that laws that are currently in force that prevent those restricted parties at gun stores are not applicable to “guns sold over the Internet or in gun shows.”

“I think most people would agree that they should not have guns,” said Bloomberg. “When you poll NRA members, 85 or 90% of them think that background checks — we’ve done this study a number of times. 80% of the time they think you should have those restrictions. If you think we should sell guns to people that have psychiatric problems or are 12 years old or people who have a criminal record, then I guess we just come at this from very different situations, but that’s what I think.”

Climate change? Yes, but he flies private jets because he’s that important …

Beyond the gun issue and how important it is to have armed security guarding a special man like himself, Bloomberg doubled down on his self-assessed value to the world by claiming his jet-setting is worthy of an exclusion from the climate-change protocols he preaches.

Yes–he is that essential to what goes on in the world. Watch …
