Billionaire Democrat loser Tom Steyer exited the clown car Saturday after getting thoroughly trounced once again by progressive voters–this time in South Carolina where he had hoped to have a powerful showing. But before he tumbled out of the race, he busted some seriously woeful moves on stage at a Friday night campaign event … in fact, in retrospect, that spectacle may have cost him a few votes.

“We were disappointed with where we came out,” Steyer told supporters Saturday evening after a distant third-place showing in the South Carolina primary. “I think we got one or two delegates from congressional districts, which I thank South Carolina for. But I said if I didn’t see a path to winning, that I’d suspend my campaign. And honestly, I can’t see a path where I can win the presidency.”

He did not explain how he ever saw a path to the presidency, but clearly, history and recent headlines show that Democrats are known for seeing stuff where most reasonable people not on psychotropic medications see nothing.

Speaking of prescriptive remedies, sleepy Joe Biden came out of nowhere on Saturday and lapped the field, taking almost half the votes in the South Carolina primary. With 99% of the votes counted, Biden garnered 48.45% of the votes. Crazy Bernie Sanders, previously in a position to run away with the nomination received only 19.91%, and Steyer had 11.33%.

It remains to be seen when the rest of the no-chance-in-hell field will go home. Of those still following a personally thrilling yellow brick road to nowhere, Amy Klobuchar would be a good bet to be the next to find an exit ramp, as she took sixth place in the primary on Saturday with just over 3% of the votes, and that was with Michael Bloomberg not on the ballot.

In terms of Steyer’s departure, the wealthy environmental activist admitted, “There’s no question today that this campaign, we were disappointed with where we came out.”

Yet earlier in the day, Steyer had told his supporters that “There is an old saying, when you run a race, which is that you don’t run to the end, you run through the tape. And that is exactly where we are today.

“We have come all the way, he added. “We can see the end of the race. But you don’t run to the end of the race, you run right through the tape. And that’s what we’re here to do today, to close the deal.”

“Back That Azz Up”

Friday night, Steyer was juiced and dancing on stage at a campaign event to Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up,” an episode that received a great deal of media attention. With precious little to otherwise remember Steyer’s foray into the race, this is what may stand the test of time … or not.
