Apparently, socialite Kourtney Kardashian doesn’t pay close attention to the news. Big surprise.
On the same day that the U.S. Surgeon General issued a statement urging Americans to stop purchasing face masks to protect themselves from the coronavirus, the multimillionaire celebrity was spotted in Paris wearing a face mask.
At least she did it outside of the United States …
In tweets posted Saturday, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams tried to explain to a stunning number of stubborn Americans that face masks are “NOT effective in preventing” coronavirus. He further implored people to stop buying them, as the relatively few masks that are available are needed by healthcare professionals:
Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!
They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!

The best way to protect yourself and your community is with everyday preventive actions, like staying home when you are sick and washing hands with soap and water, to help slow the spread of respiratory illness.

Note that the tweets link to a memo from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Meanwhile, sometime Saturday the socialite fashionista “touched down in France ahead of Paris Fashion Week wearing a mask to protect herself amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak,” according to the Metro.
“With a structured black mask across her face, Kourtney wore dark sunglasses and her hair tied back in a loose bun. Staving off the cold, she wore a baggy black leather jacket to make her way from the airport,” the outlet reported.
Apparently, she never got the memo …
Granted, she wasn’t alone (though in fairness, some of these pics were posted before the U.S. Surgeon General’s announcement):

“CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19,” the CDC’s memo reads.
“Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).”
The good news is that Kardashian eventually got the memo.
Photos that emerged on social media Sunday morning showed her out and about in Paris, France, while NOT wearing a mask.

Better late than never …
And at least she listened, unlike an astounding number of anti-Trump left-wing Twitter users who responded to the Surgeon General’s tweet by questioning his credentials, attacking the Trump administration’s otherwise successful handling of the coronavirus crisis, acting as if they understand the science better than him and criticizing his casual use of language.
Look:
Are you seriously the US Surgeon General? As a medical professional, I agree with you, but this is the most unprofessional piece of public communication I’ve seen since the last time I visited Trump’s page. You have a responsibility to, at least, appear credible.

God how I miss having a real government during times of crisis w real guidance. Not this shitshow regime— Olga Lautman (@olgaNYC1211) February 29, 2020
Why weren’t inventories of masks, respirators, gloves, medications, medical equipment and supplies stocked up 2 months ago in anticipation of the shortages we have today? COVID-19 was announced in December, not 2 weeks ago.

You continue to fail as a USSG. Your job is to protect the Public.
-Wash Hands
-Don’t touch mouth, nose, or eyes.
-If your sick, stay home & seek medical treatment
-Wear a mask if YOU have flu like symptoms
-Stay hydrated
-Disinflect Household Surfaces & Car daily.— Jeff Ward (@Jeffward75) February 29, 2020
Too bad this administration has zero credibility when it comes to science. No one trusts anything anymore.

Now’s a good time to remember that Obama built up a strong pandemic preparedness and response team. They were in the process of stockpiling supplies that would be needed in a pandemic situation like the Coronavirus when Trump fired them all.#TrumpSlumphttps://t.co/bwvoJoxOJQ

A cursory look at their Twitter profiles shows that most of them are the exact sorts of irrational far-left zealots who once used to praise then-President Barack Hussein Obama for taking constant selfies like a child, hanging out with gangster rappers and royally screwing up the administration’s Ebola efforts.
“From the very beginning, the Obama administration has screwed up the Ebola situation,” longtime conservative news reporter and commentator Bill O’Reilly noted in 2014.
“On December 6, 2013 in the African country of Guinea, the first patient with Ebola was identified. He is called patient zero, a two-year-old child who died. A few months later on March 24, 2014, authorities in Guinea reported 87 suspected cases of Ebola. One week later Liberia confirmed two cases of Ebola. The country of Sierra Leone also reported cases. On April 1st, the organization Doctors without Borders warned that the Ebola contagion was ‘unprecedented.'”
Yet months passed until Obama took even the slightest note of the emerging crisis.
“On that day, April 1st of this year, the Obama administration should have begun formulating a strategy to deal with West Africans coming to the USA from the Ebola regions,” O’Reilly explained. “The Obama administration did not do that. In fact, the first public mention from the feds came months later, on July 28th.”
