Everyone wants their wedding to be “the best,” but this cake reveal really, well, “takes the cake.”
During the ceremony for Malaysian actor and singer Aiman Hakim Ridza and actress and model Zahirah Macwilson, the crowd was in awe of a chandelier-inspired wedding cake that actually hung upside-down over the couple as they walked the aisle.
The gravity-defying confection was created by the Lily & Lola bakery in Kuala Lumpur, and according to an Instagram post from the company, took about 3 years to fully come to fruition. The multi-tiered wedding cake descended from the ceiling when it was time to cut, and according to the social media post, even the bride didn’t realize what it was until that moment.

But Lily & Lola Cakes weren’t able to put the whole thing together by themselves. A company called Mahligai Creative helped rig up the mechanics that allowed the cake to make its grand entrance.
According to Lily Osman, one half of Lola & Lily Cakes, the creation of this culinary marvel was no cakewalk.
“It’s an idea that my sister Alya and I have been thinking about since 2017,” she explained. “Aiman’s and Zahirah’s wedding became our golden opportunity to put it into practice as it fitted their Rustic wedding theme.” She also described it as “difficult” to pull off in part due to the cake’s fragility.
And for those wondering what extravagant flavor the high-class couple selected for their special night: Vanilla.
“Vanilla cake for the couple,” confirmed Lola & Lily Cakes.
It’s hard to imagine any future celebrity wedding being this show-stopping and elegant, let alone having the “wow-factor” of a wedding cake descending from the ceiling, disguised as a stunning lighting fixture. These two really set the bar quite high!
