Bernie Sanders so intoxicated by Nevada blow-out, he vows to beat Trump … in Texas!

Having surged at just the right time to become the Democratic Party front-runner to take on President Donald Trump, socialist Bernie Sanders is feeling his oats — at the ripe age of 78.

With three states having voted now, party elitists are in a quiet panic over Sanders possibly being the nominee, believing that America is not going to put a socialist in the White House and that the cantankerous senator from Vermont will assure four more years for Trump. Which means Sanders still has a ways to go to becoming the nominee, not that he isn’t already looking ahead to taking on the president.

In an effort to exude confidence after Saturday’s projected win in Nevada, Sanders took to Trump’s domain, Twitter, to boast that he will beat Trump in Texas — he may be a Marxist at heart, but Sanders is smart enough to know that associating himself with Trump assures headlines and interest. Especially if Trump reciprocates.

“Don’t tell @realDonaldTrump this because he’ll get very nervous—we’re going to beat him in Texas,” Sanders tweeted.

While results are still being tabulated, it appears Sanders won big in Nevada and this certainly puts him in the driver’s seat to secure the nomination with Super Tuesday a little over a week away.

Former Vice President Joe Biden came in a distant second, which could inject a little sorely needed life into his fading White House bid.

But even some Democrats fear that outcome, as seen in the remarks Saturday night from former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg, who finished third in Nevada.

The openly gay candidate congratulated Sanders on the win, then hit him for being divisive, and warned that Sanders has “a vision of capitalism as the root of all evil.”

“Before we rush to nominate Sen. Sanders, let’s take a sober look at what’s at stake,” Buttigieg told supporters, according to NBC News. “Sanders believes in an inflexible, ideological revolution that leaves out most Democrats, not to mention most Americans.”

Not exactly the candidate you’d expect Texans to embrace, although Democrats have been working hard to turn the reliably red state more of a worrisome shade of purple.

Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders appeared on Fox News to caution Republicans about taking a win over Crazy Bernie for granted.

“If crazy socialist Bernie Sanders is the Democrat nominee, as he is well on track to be, literally the way of life and our very freedom is at stake at the election in November and Republicans have to come out in full force and make sure that they get Donald Trump reelected,” she said.

Nonetheless, social media users are still skeptical. Highly skeptical. And more than a few plan to bookmark Sanders’ tweet for future reference.

Here’s a sampling of some of the responses from Twitter:
