Unfortunately for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., reality does not prove to be consistent with the effort the socialist extends to brand herself as another struggling member of the proletariat.
Not that the hard-left lawmaker, who gets it that her appeal is wrapping Marxism in a pretty little package and selling it with a smile, doesn’t push back when exposed as the hypocrite she is.
The latest dust-up comes after a Friday appearance on ABC’s “The View,” with AOC rocking “a luxe designer dress,” as the New York Post characterized the black sequin leopard dress by Rickie Freeman that the lawmaker was wearing.
The Post reported Ocasio-Cortez rented the dress for her appearance on The View and that it retails at $580.
Always sensitive to criticism about her attire, AOC countered to say the Post is “just mad that you can look good fighting for working families.”
(“Working families” being code, part of the vernacular in selling class warfare and the virtues of communism to poorly-informed millennials.)

You may recall that Washington Examiner reporter Eddie Scarry shared a photo of AOC from behind, when she was first elected to Congress, commenting on her attire.
“I’ll tell you something: that jacket and coat don’t look like a girl who struggles,” he said in the since-deleted tweet.
Ever the victim, Ocasio-Cortez reacted to that by touting her “best sale-rack clothes.”
“If I walked into Congress wearing a sack, they would laugh & take a picture of my backside,” she tweeted said. “If I walk in with my best sale-rack clothes, they laugh & take a picture of my backside. Dark hates light – that’s why you tune it out. Shine bright & keep it pushing.”

And don’t forget the 2018 photoshoot in New York City for Interview magazine, that featured the Democrat wearing a $1,990 Gabriela Hearst double-breasted blazer and $890 wool pants. The ensemble was completed with a pair of $625 Manolo Blahnik pumps.
As for sequins, who knew this was evening attire? Other than social media, of course, which knows everything.
