While you may be left wondering if California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has been partaking in some of the legal medical marijuana now rampant in his state, the politician does deserve credit for being one of the few on the left brave enough to put a voice to the grand utopian society they actually envision.
Not that Newsom didn’t pay dearly for it in the snarky world of social media.
The governor took to Twitter to say, “Doctors should be able to write prescriptions for housing the same way they do for insulin or antibiotics.”
It’s a stance that acts as if housing can be produced and bottled like medicinal drugs — never mind the issue of who’s paying for the housing.
Nevertheless, as Newsom stated in a follow-up tweet, having a roof over your head is a “fundamental” need.
“We need to start targeting social determinants of health. We need to start treating brain health like we do physical health. What’s more fundamental to a person’s well being than a roof over their head?” he tweeted.
We need to start targeting social determinants of health. We need to start treating brain health like we do physical health.
What’s more fundamental to a person’s well being than a roof over their head?

With Democrats having subsidized homelessness, causing it to proliferate to out-of-control levels in many American cities, they now seek a taxpayer-funded solution to a government-created problem.
Honestly speaking, the tent-lined streets in the Skid Row section of Los Angeles in a national embarrassment — one the liberal media shows little interest in.
And Newsom partially blames America’s failed mental health system that his party is almost entirely responsible for.
Let’s be clear: Massive failures in our mental health system and disinvestment in our social safety net—exacerbated by widening income inequality and our housing shortage— has led us to where we are today: too many Californians left to live on our streets.

While there are a number of reasons to account for homelessness, it’s not by accident that this problem is almost exclusive to Democrat-run cities.
If there is a positive here, it may be that perhaps this will be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back, finally teaching Californians that elections do indeed have consequences.
Here’s just a small sampling of responses from Twitter:
This is a clown post, yes?

“Doc, I’m having trouble thinking of a good solution to our housing crisis.”
“Here, let me write you a prescription for a working brain.”
“Is that possible? Can you really do that?”
“Of course I can. I’m a doctor. I can do anything.”

I need a prescription for an ocean front condo Memorial Day weekend, should I go to my provider, or do I need to see a specialist?

“Hi this is Karen from CVS. I’m calling to verify a prescription for a three-bedroom two-bath ranch style home.”

Think your health insurance is expensive now? Wait until it has to subsidize not just healthcare for those who can’t pay, but housing too.
— Woodstock Dave (@woodstockdave) February 21, 2020
Or perhaps you should work to repeal AB5 so more people don’t lose their homes…

California taxpayers are gonna get soooooooo screwed with this nut job as governor.
Citizens deserve exactly the government that they elect.

My doctor reccomends the Governor’s mansion, how soon will you be out? pic.twitter.com/uhQ7ntimaq

The real question is: Would that be a FAKE prescription? We wouldn’t want someone getting a house who didn’t really need a house. That might endanger people who already got their house, but now fear those who don’t have one! Sound familiar?

Lets blame everyone else for the failure of CA govt to address the states issues. Amazing that other states manage to get housing, mental health care, shelters for homeless but CA can’t? Perhaps if they weren’t busy buying votes from illegals with CA $$ they could provide these!

Holy Batman. What’s next writing prescription for clothes, furniture, sex, & psychedelic drugs? ?utopian nightmares #Democrats2020

Hey Gav, why don’t you invite the homeless to stay with you in the Gov’s mansion. Those digs should be great for mental health. Extra points for you if they are homeless illegal immigrants.
