Chelsea Handler asks if we noticed color of Trump's exonerated criminals. She gets properly owned.

In her transparent attempt to stay culturally relevant via “woke” political commentary, Chelsea Handler made an absolute fool of herself once again.

“While our president exonerates criminals and releases them from jail, notice what color they all are,” she tweeted, undoubtedly implying that President Trump had some sort of racial bias when it comes to commuting sentences.

Aside from making herself look quite silly, Handler accidentally pointed out an important fact: The mainstream media has been largely silent on a lot of the people of color who have been pardoned or had their sentences commuted by President Trump. It is because of this that celebrities like Handler can get away with erroneously implying that he is using his pardon power to excuse his racial peers of their crimes.

Alice Johnson, one of the women of color who had her prison sentence commuted by Trump in 2018, appeared in a Super Bowl commercial that touted his record on criminal justice reform. She also spoke to Fox News on Tuesday night to respond to the president’s critics who claim that Trump is abusing his power by pardoning the likes of Rod Blagojevich, who was convicted of trying to sell former Senator Obama’s Illinois seat.

In her interview on “The Story” with Martha MacCallum, Johnson asserted that anyone criticizing Trump’s pardons clearly hasn’t looked at the cases involved.

“I know I wasn’t politically connected,” she explained. “And I know that three of my friends, Judith Negron, Crystal Munoz, and Tynice Hall, were granted commutations today and they definitely are not politically connected, and anyone who thinks these women should not have been granted clemency have not looked at their cases.”

Instead of scolding Trump, Johnson suggested that his critics should be “celebrating” that these women were given a chance to reform their lives and return home to their families.

“They should be celebrating that these mothers are being reunited with their families, their stories are very compelling,” she pointed out. “And I’m very thankful.”

But it should come as no surprise that Handler tweets things like this. She is, after all, responsible for the “National Coming Out Day” tweet taking a homophobic shot at Sen. Lindsey Graham that united Republicans and the LGBT community in rage.
