Bloomberg considering Hillary Clinton as running mate, after ticket polls well, Drudge reports

Conservative news aggregator Matt Drudge claimed in a bombshell tweet Saturday afternoon that Democrat presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City, is considering recruiting failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as his running mate.

“Sources close to Bloomberg campaign tell DRUDGE REPORT that candidate is considering Hillary as running mate, after their polling found the Bloomberg-Clinton combination would be a formidable force,” Drudge wrote in one of two very rare tweets to his rarely used account.

Drudge further claimed via his “exclusive” sources that Bloomberg is considering changing his official residence from New York to make up for an Electoral College shortcoming that “makes it hard for a POTUS and VPOTUS to be from same state.”

The relationship between Bloomberg and Clinton reportedly spans decades.

“Theirs is a cordial, if not particularly close, relationship, based on proximity in New York, if not political party,” The New York Times reported back in 2014.

“Mr. Bloomberg, an independent who won his first campaign for mayor in 2001 as a Republican, worked closely with Mrs. Clinton when she was a Democratic senator from New York and regularly speaks at the annual Clinton Global Initiative gatherings in New York.”

However, their relationship reportedly grew “somewhat icy” in 2007, when Bloomberg mulled joining the 2008 Democrat presidential primary race, which at the time was still being led by Clinton versus would-be President Barack Obama.

But by the 2016 presidential election, any iciness had since dissipated, with Bloomberg formally endorsing then-nominee Clinton at the Democrat National Convention.

“I am here for one reason, and one reason only: to explain why I believe it is my imperative that we elect Hillary Clinton as the next president of the United States. And to ask you to join with me in supporting her this November,” he declared in the video below:

Four years later, it appears he may perhaps be seeking for Clinton to return the favor by accepting a role as his would-be vice president. Given her favorability among suburban left-wing women, he may believe having her by his side would therefore be a boon for his campaign against President Donald Trump.

But it’s not clear that Clinton would necessarily be willing to participate. While she’s made it clear she has no intention of actually entering the 2020 race, she’s spoken repeatedly and endlessly about the “urge” she feels to run.

And given her notorious ego and the giant chip on her shoulder, it’s quite possible she may even take offense to Bloomberg considering her as a VP.

Just consider how now-withdrawn 2020 contender Sen. Kamala Harris, also a woman, angrily responded when some began to urge her to position herself as former Vice President Joe Biden’s potential running mate.

She and her supporters responded by taking a page from Clinton’s playbook and crying sexism.

But on the other hand, Bloomberg has participated in and donated money to some of the key initiatives launched by Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

The former mayor and former President Bill Clinton jointly developed a climate-change effort focused on improving conditions in cities,” the Times reported in 2014.

“Bloomberg L.P. has been a sponsor of the Clinton Global Initiative, and Mr. Bloomberg gave the Clinton Foundation $150,000 in 2012 for environmental projects in Haiti, among other collaborations.”

Of course, all of this is moot at this point, given as the Democrat presidential primaries have only just begun, and as it stands, Bloomberg boasts zero delegates and has purposefully chosen to sit out the first four caucuses/primaries.

His official entrance into the race won’t occur until Super Tuesday, which he’s hoping to sweep via the unprecedented millions upon millions he’s been spending to purchase TV ads and sponsored memes.

Yet despite his late entrance into the race and his decision to skip the first few caucuses/primaries, Bloomberg has already catapulted into third place in national polls, with RealClearPolitics showing him at an average of 14.2 percent versus Biden’s 19.2 percent and front-runner Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 23.6 percent.

And if Clinton indicates that she’d be willing to indeed serve as his VP, his rise could even potentially become unstoppable — or at least in so far as the Democrat primaries are concerned.

When it comes to the general election, on the other hand, it’ll likely be a whole other matter for “Little Mike” …
