The most anti-Semitic congressperson in memory, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, grievously retweeted a blood libel claim about a seven-year-old Palestinian child. The online antisemitic canard stated the boy “was kidnapped by a Herd of violent #Israeli settlers, assaulted & thrown in a water well, was found this morning frozen to death in Beit Hanina, Jerusalem after Israeli forces assaulted search teams.”
The claim, originally posted to a fake Twitter account called “Real Seif Bitar,” was false.
What is true is that the boy was found dead in a cistern Saturday morning after going missing on Friday.
Israeli journalist Eylon Levy pointedly accused Tlaib of being, at the very least reckless, and quite possibly far worse …
Three layers of what for now appears to be a blood libel. From a faceless activist to a Palestinian government official to a US Congresswoman to a global audience of 898,000 followers. pic.twitter.com/spGwJAp5RT

“Blood libel” is an antisemitic, defamatory allegation that Jews murder non-Jewish children to use their blood as part of religious rituals.
The Jerusalem Post reported: “Palestinian politician Hanan Ashrawi re-tweeted the allegation and added ‘the heart just shatters, the pain is unbearable, no words.’ Congresswoman Tlaib then retweeted the Ashrawi tweet that included the allegations.”
Eventually, Ashrawi backtracked, then apologized for her tweet and deleted it. “My apologizes for re-tweeting something that’s not fully verified. It seems that the news of his being kidnapped is not certain,” she wrote.
Subsequently, Tlaib deleted her tweet “but she did not apologize for spreading the false information,” according to the Post.
The original tweet included a video of the boy’s body being removed from the cistern by first responders. After that post, various Palestinian social media users “incited against Israel, with small clashes resulting in East Jerusalem,” according to the paper.
Also according to the Post, “It has led to an outpouring of incitement against Israel. George Galloway, the UK politician, wrote ‘there are no words which can fully convey the evil of this story.’”
Attorney and political analyst Arsen Ostrovsky accused Tlaib of being a “coward.”
He wrote: “Seriously @RashidaTlaib? There is no basis whatsoever there was any foul play. In fact, Israelis were involved in the search for the boy. This was a tragic case of a child who went missing and fell into a pool of rainwater. Have you no shame in reposting these lies?”
“Even @DrHananAshrawi had the mild decency to apologize for her blood libel! But you @RashidaTlaib? Not a word. You’re a coward!”

Jerusalem Post senior editor Lahav Harkov repeated the “blood libel” accusation against Tlaib …
.@RashidaTlaib spreading a blood libel. There is no evidence that the boy was “kidnapped and executed.” He drowned in a cistern near his home. It was Israeli firefighters who found him, not “Israeli forces assaulted search teams.” https://t.co/yZO7jdEgC8 https://t.co/TYu7Gm1IJu

It says a lot about Tlaib that she’d believe this in the first place. Demonization of Jews leads to believing every fable. At least @DrHananAshrawi now says she might not have the facts on this.

Then the left side wonders why we don’t listen to them. Not only do they lie, they sensationalize the entire story. Reporting false news just confirms what we already know. #Trump2020
