In a “Watters’ World” segment that featured colleague Tucker Carlson, Fox News host Jesse Watters shared a recent encounter he had with three Bernie Sanders supporters.

To hear Watters tell it, the trio said they appreciate Fox News’ coverage of the self-avowed socialist candidate.

“I’m coming home the other night, living in an apartment building in lower Manhattan,” Watters explained. “I get on the elevator and the elevator doors are closing and at the last second, an arm goes through — elevator doors open up and three Bernie Sanders supporters walk into the elevator.”

“And they immediately recognize me,” he continued. “They say ‘I know who you are,’ and I got nervous. And they said ‘I don’t agree with anything you say or anything you believe in, but you guys — meaning Fox — are the only ones who have treated Bernie Sanders fairly.'”

Watters said he likened how Sanders is being treated by the media to how President Donald Trump is treated.

“And I said, ‘Yeah he’s getting screwed over, just like the media tried to screw over Trump,’” he told Carlson.

The Trump analogy being appropriate, given what Watters said transpired next.

“And she said to me, ‘You know what’s going to happen? They’re going to rob Bernie again and we’re going to vote for Donald Trump again,'” he said. “I couldn’t believe it!”

Carlson weighed in to say establishment Democrats attack those who are outside the approved categories.

“I’m not for Bernie Sanders, I want to be clear, but they don’t want to debate Bernie Sanders’ ideas or proposals,” Carlson said. “They want to shut him up by calling him names, using their identity politics playbook and make him go away. They did it the first time and they’re doing it again.”

“When the New York Times’ editorial page, and Paul Krugman and all of the dumb overpaid people who make our opinions in the country, when they’re all against you, I think conservatives give you benefit of the doubt because they know what that feels like,” he added.

Watters said “there’s a lot of sympathy on the right for Sanders,” noting that Hillary Clinton just “had some really nasty things to say about the senator.”

He shared a quote from Clinton on Sanders: “He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him. Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him. He got nothing done… He was a career politician. It’s all just bologna and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it.”

This was followed by President Trump’s take on the infighting, as Watters played a clip of Trump saying “nobody likes her! That’s why she lost, nobody likes her.”

The president said if he had his choice, he might take Sanders over Clinton, adding that Sanders “seems to be the one” Democratic voters want.

“What’s so funny is the guy who has been in casinos and real estate and reality shows his whole life had such better political instinct, such better clarity,” Carlson said. “He’s totally 100% right.”

He said Clinton’s assessment that people don’t like Sanders is “shallow and lacking self-awareness.”

“But what everyone should realize is that Trump’s core critique, which is this is what Democratic voters want, that’s correct,” Carlson concluded. “This is what Democrat voters want, like it or not. And ultimately, people get what they want. So if I would not be shocked if Bernie were the nominee, not at all.”
