Turns out, if you embarrass yourself on national television while plugging a certain brand, there may be a company appreciative of the publicity willing to compensate you.
Eve Dubois was a contestant on the Canadian version of “Family Feud,” that’s aired north of the border, and was going head to head against a contestant for a chance to play for $10,000.
“Real simple. There’s one question. Only one answer. Whoever gets it, you’re playing for $10,000. That’s it. Whoever gets this wins the game,” host Gerry Dee explained.
“Name Popeye’s favorite food,” he said.
“Chicken!” Dubois blurted out — proud of herself, she confidently danced around.
Popeye’s favourite food is… chicken? #familyfeudcanada #surveysays #goodanswer #chicken

The only problem is, of course, the correct answer was spinach. It seems Dubois may have heard one too many jingles about loving that Popeyes Chicken.
“Oh my God!”one of her distraught family members groaned, understanding that Dubois just blew it.
The competing Tomlin family member gave the correct answer, “Spinach, Jerry,” and his family advanced to the Fast Money round.
“I thought you meant Popeyes Chicken,” Dubois is heard telling Dee — meaning she wasn’t listening carefully to the question.
As hilarious — and embarrassing — as the moment was, there is a silver lining, courtesy of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
The fast food chicken joint responded to award Dubois $10,000 worth of Popeyes chicken as a condolence prize.
“Our survey says you got that right. DM us to claim your $10,000 worth of Popeyes,” the restaurant chain tweeted.

Given the notoriety that move has garnered, it’s the best $10,000 Popeyes ever spent. And the brilliant person behind the move surely has a nice bonus in his/her future.
Think what you will of Dubois’ answer, but she’s smart enough to accept the gift and say “thank you.”

As hilarious as the moment was, the online responses are equally as good. Here’s a sampling from Twitter:

I can’t stop watching these clips. I don’t know if it’s her response to the question or that ridiculous dumb dance shimmer thing she does
She legit looks like a real life bobblehead ?

Not that Dubois didn’t have her defenders!
To be fair just about everyone under the age of 40 has probably only ever heard of Popeyes Chicken and won’t have a clue about Popeye the sailor man unless they’ve been to Universal Orlando. pic.twitter.com/0IjzBMUWRv

This is a stupid question. Popeye’s favorite food? How do we know this? The premise around the cartoon didnt revolve around what he favored at the dinner table. He took spinach in a controlled dose during high stress situations. Does this mean it’s his favorite food? No.

In fairness, he should of said Popeye the Salior Man. ??♀️
