Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin has charged that the Trump administration violated the terms of an agreement the U.S. has with Iraq by killing the world’s most dangerous terrorist in their country. Amazingly, she also admitted she had a role in helping to keep Qassem Soleimani alive in the past, even as he was responsible for the deaths of her friends.
Slotkin and her liberal comrades tout her former employment with the CIA and leadership of an intelligence team in Iraq in 2006 and 2007 as the basis for counting her liberal opinion as relevant.
Slotkin on Fox News: Trump violated an agreement with Iraq
Fox News’ Gillian Turner interviewed Slotkin Saturday and asked for her reactions to the strike on Iran general and terror leader Qassem Soleimani and the decision to go after those most responsible for the ongoing deaths of Americans and others in the Middle East.
“It’s been part of the conversation, both in years past under Presidents Bush and Obama, why getting into a conflict with Iran was something we were trying to avoid because they don’t respond the way we do, sort of symmetrically — ‘let’s go force on force.’ They come up with these really dangerous, sort of shadowy ways of responding that we can’t predict always.”
Turner pointed out that Iraq is considering expelling US forces from the country, and Slotkin replied it was not surprising and implied that it was justified.
“I think that the activities that have gone on in the past couple of weeks from the American side have violated the agreement that we have with the Iraqis which was, ‘we’re going to come and put troops back in your country and we’re going to focus on ISIS, we’re going to focus on terrorists, and getting rid of those terrorists from your country.’ That’s what we have authorization to do, both from the Iraqis and from here in Congress,” said Slotkin.
Pause tape … by all accounts, Soleimani was the world’s most dangerous terrorist. So the interview could have been shut down right there. Resume tape …
“And so when we changed the mission in the past couple of weeks and gone after Shia militia leaders, gone after Iranians on their soil, the Iraqis are rightfully concerned about a real shift in the relationship,” she continued. “I would not be surprised, although I think it’s a real problem strategically, but I would not be surprised if in the next couple of days they vote to kick us out.”
Responding to Turner’s point that the attack on the US embassy in Baghdad was itself a violation of the security agreement with Iraq, Slotkin replied: “The decision to go after Soleimani was a much bigger decision than going after some guys who organized a very localized attack.”

Slotkin confession reported by Detroit News 4
Unbelievably, earlier in the week, Slotkin actually admitted to being part of a U.S. intelligence effort to previously overlook the atrocities perpetrated by Soleimani and allow him to live because of the fear that “the strike [was not] worth the likely retaliation, and the potential to pull us into protracted conflict.”
Bad enough to admit to that, but at the same time, she confessed that she “watched friends and colleagues get hurt or killed by Iranian rockets, mortars and explosive devices that were provided to Iraqi proxies and used against U.S. forces under Soleimani’s guidance.”
Admittedly, Slotkin was not the one to make the call during those previous administrations to allow Soleimani to continue to do his worst, but she clearly has no shame in admitting that she was in the middle of the effort to help keep him alive, even while she “watched friends and colleagues” become casualties at his direction.
Her full statement that included those admissions, as reported by Detroit’s Local 4 news, can be read here.
