Lisa Page, whose mom came from Iran, calls it ‘smart and strategic … a real and independent country.’

Disgraced former FBI attorney Lisa Page triggered backlash on social media again this Friday by offering her opinion about President Donald Trump’s elimination of top Iranian general and terrorist mastermind Qasem Soleimani.

While she praised Soleimani’s removal, tweeting “good riddance,” she then went on to warn of the potential repercussions. She wasn’t alone in that regard. Other liberal Democrats have posited similar concerns about the potential consequences of the drone strike that killed the Iranian general earlier this week.

However, in articulating her concerns, Page portrayed Iran in a disturbingly positive light, describing it as a “smart and strategic” country with a “5,000 year old culture.” She also claimed Iran “isn’t an irrational actor.” The facts might beg to differ.

Note how she wrote that Iran is most likely poised to “hit back in a way to remind America that they are a real and independent country.”

To be fair, Page’s mother, Tamara Najarian, is a naturalized American citizen who reportedly immigrated to the United States in the 1970s. Thus, Page appears to feel a familial bond of sorts to the rogue regime and, it would appear, its government.

The problem is that, while the Iranian people themselves appear to be rational — as evidenced by their growing protests against their own corrupt government — the officials in power actually responsible for the nation’s actions abroad are a different matter.

And that’s why the country has over the past few decades been an Islamic theocracy devoid of, for instance, basic human rights:

Suffice it to say, Iran isn’t led by rational let alone “smart” people. It’s led by religious maniacs who oppress their own people, fund terrorism abroad and have technically been “striking back,” as Page put it, for decades. And leading those attacks had been Soleimani.

As even one of The Washington Post’s many liberal columnists, David Ignatius, put it this week, “Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s Quds Force, deserved his fate.”

“He was a ruthlessly clever commander who threatened the United States and its allies for two decades,” Ignatius noted. “For more than a year, Soleimani and his colleagues had been ignoring U.S. signals to cease proxy attacks against U.S. facilities that could result in American deaths.”

Just last week the Iranian-backed foreign terrorist organization (FTO) Kata’ib Hezbollah committed an attack on a U.S. base that led to the death of an American contractor.

And yet here Page was defending this same rogue regime and suggesting, however surreptitiously, that it was the United States that was asking for trouble.

Patriotic social media users didn’t care for this. Look below at the scathing replies, some of which were written by Iranians themselves:

“The people of #Iran don’t agree with you Lisa,” one critic wrote.
