Trump unleashes on ‘filthy cops, officials’ who should ‘be in jail’, says crimes ‘far more sinister’ than Watergate

President Donald Trump began the second day of the new year and decade by blasting the “filthy cops” from the Obama administration who’d launched the since-debunked Russia probe against him and his 2016 presidential election campaign.

He also appeared to take a shot at the media for their stubborn refusal to even consider that maybe – just maybe – the probe had been driven by political bias.

The “filthy cops” he’d meant were probably disgraced former FBI employees James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, not to mention disgraced former CIA Director John Brennan and disgraced former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

Because of their “witch hunt,” as the president called it, decorated retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn was nearly driven to bankruptcy over process crimes.

Meanwhile, with all the evidence about the probe that’s emerged — including Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s genuinely bombshell findings that almost two dozen “fundamental errors” were made during just one leg of the years-long investigation — one would think the media would be itching to ask tough questions and dig deeper.

But no, many in the media have accepted the Democrat Party’s narrative that the entire probe was on the up and up and that attempts by Attorney General Bill Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the matter are rooted in partisanship.

To hear the media tell it, the mere notion that perhaps something foul occurred (besides the “fundamental errors”) is a conspiracy theory:

FYI, the report shared above by The Washington Post senior political reporter Aaron Blake was based on Durham merely informing Horowitz that he doesn’t yet have enough evidence to verify Trump’s accusations of an illegal investigation or “coup.”

Days later, after Horowitz released his own report and revealed his personal opinion that the Russia probe wasn’t motivated by political bias, Durham put out an additional statement making it clear he disagreed with the IG’s premature conclusion:

Barr issued a similar statement:

The Post’s editorial board went on to accuse these and other responses of presenting a “warped view” of the Russia probe.

“The FBI opened its investigation into the Trump campaign after receiving a credible report that a Trump aide had said the Russians had obtained Hillary Clinton’s emails, just as federal officials were seeing Russian attempts to interfere with the 2016 presidential election,” the board wrote on Dec. 11.

“Mr. Barr on Tuesday called these alarming facts a ‘flimsy’ basis on which to launch an investigation. In reality, the FBI had an obligation to determine, on the fly and in unprecedented circumstances, whether there was collusion.”

In their opinions.

Which of course aligned (and always align) perfectly with the Democrat Party’s narrative. It’s a point that the president conveyed seemingly quite accurately in a video retweet he posted sometime before the “filthy cops” tweet seen up top.

When it came to then-Democrat President Barack Hussein Obama, the media ballyhooed his accomplishments and invariably downplayed his scandals. To this day, some in the media still claim he boasted a practically “scandal-free” presidency.

“On the anniversary of the day that Obama wore a tan suit — a choice he was heavily criticized for — people are realizing how little scandals there were when he was in office,” People magazine’s Joelle Goldstein wrote in August.

“Tan Suit Gate has taken on a different meaning, coming to symbolize the relative dearth of scandals during the Obama administration,” The Washington Post’s Antonia Noori Farzan added.

There’s this belief among the left that Obama once triggered outrage among the right by wearing a tan suit. Whether or not this is true, the left now believes that the “tan suit scandal” was the only real scandal that the former president’s administration experienced. It may just be the lie of the century, given all the evidence to the contrary.

Years later, the media now treat almost anything Trump does as a scandal, including his ice cream eating habits. No joke!

Conversely, now that legitimate evidence has emerged suggesting that the Russia probe that was initiated during Obama’s tenure may have been corrupt from the get-go, they’re in a rush to downplay the evidence and claim it’s all a conspiracy theory.

Never mind that, according to a recent poll, a 53 percent majority of Americans believe the FBI acted illegally during its investigation of the president.

And never mind that some of the very same “filthy cops” whom Trump mentioned were indeed so “filthy” that they were ultimately fired from their posts.
