With his dry wit and an economy of words, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume can be lethal when responding on social media, as NBC News anchor Chuck Todd was to learn Monday.
Todd finds himself under fire after arrogantly suggesting Sunday on “Meet the Press” that Trump voters who believe in “fairy tales” — like Noah’s Ark — “want to be lied to.”
As part of a panel discussion on media distrust, Todd highlighted a letter to the editor of the Lexington Herald Leader that he saw as a “fascinating attempt” to explain why so many people support President Trump.
The letter read: “[W]hy do people support Trump? It’s because people have been trained from childhood to believe in fairy tales… This set their minds up to accept things that make them feel good… The more fairy tales and lies he tells the better they feel… Show me a person who believes in Noah’s ark and I will show you a Trump voter.”
Lashing out, @NBCNews political director @chucktodd is now claiming that Trump supporters follow him because they like to believe in "fairy tales" and "want to be lied too." pic.twitter.com/AbKNaAu9VV

“This gets at something that my executive producer likes to say, ‘Hey, voters want to be lied to sometimes.’ They don’t always love being told hard truths,” Todd told New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet.
The arrogance on display by the liberal media is astonishing, be it in attacking those who support Trump or Christians in general, as both are politically correct targets in post-Obama America.
Hume took exception to Todd, the NBC News political director, essentially mocking the religious beliefs of countless millions — and doing so just days after Christmas.
Taking to Twitter, Hume shared a tweet from CNN anchor Jake Tapper explaining the reason Hanukkah lasts eight nights.
“I wonder if Chuck Todd also thinks this is a ‘fairy tale,'” Hume tweeted.

The tweet from Hume takes on added meaning, given that five people were stabbed the night before Todd’s remark during a Hannukah party at a rabbi’s home just north of New York City.
On a morning after an attack on people of faith, @ChuckTodd uses an ugly Letter to the Editor to mock religious people. What a repugnant individual. https://t.co/1Z6jIbiDrI

As for fairy tales, Ben Domenech, publisher of The Federalist, noted in a tweet: “The fairy tales Chuck Todd told us for years about the Steele dossier have more to do with media distrust than Noah’s Ark.”
Here’s a sampling of responses to Hume’s tweet from Twitter:
Trolling like a boss Brit!

I suspect Chuck Todd wouldn’t much like his faith being called a “fairy tale”.

It’s the other way around. The press is left of the Democratic Party and are leading them leftward. The Dem party takes their cues and narratives from the press.

Chuck Todd is pretty much irrelevant anymore.
— Georgette Haupt (@GeorgetteHaupt) December 30, 2019
Hey Chuck, Russian collusion…there’s your fairy tale.

So, did Chuck Todd condemn Nancy Pelosi when she played her Catholic card?
— CharlesMartel686-741AD (@Hammer4USA) December 30, 2019
Chuck Todd also believes that the booming economy, First Step Act, numerous judicial appointments, enormous stock market surges, religious liberty acts & so forth, are all part of a giant “fairytale”.
However, the real delusion is the socialist agenda adopted by the DNC.

Aye. Or would @chucktodd have the guts to say, for ex., that #Muhammad‘s night trip to Jerusalem from Mecca was a “fairy tale?” Of course not.
