The watchdog group Judicial Watch has sued the Department of Justice and CIA for access to documents pertaining to the partisan whistleblower.
Last month, the group filed Freedom of Information Act requests with the DOJ for access to communications between the suspected partisan whistleblower and the former FBI officials linked to the Russia probe.
These officials included “FBI agent Peter Strzok, former FBI Attorney Lisa Page, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and/or the Special Counsel’s Office,” Judicial Watch announced in a press release Friday.
The group filed similar requests with the CIA for access to any emails the partisan whistleblower may have sent between June 1, 2016, and Nov.12, 2019.
Both requests identified the suspected partisan whistleblower as former CIA employee Eric Ciaramella. His name has proven to be controversial because of the insistence of Democrats and their media allies that exposing it would somehow endanger him.
Both requests were ignored, so Judicial Watch filed suit on Monday.
The suit against the DOJ may be read below:
And the suit against the CIA may be read below:
In JW’s press release, it alleges that the whistleblower’s identity has been determined, and thus the whistleblower’s name, Eric Ciaramella, need not be covered up anymore.
“Ciaramella’s name appears in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the 2016 presidential election, in reference to two emails Ciaramella sent to then-Chief of Staff John Kelly and other officials, describing a meeting between President Trump, Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister Sergey Kislyak,” the release reads.
“Ciaramella is widely reported as the person who filed the whistleblower complaint that triggered the impeachment proceedings. His name reportedly was ‘raised privately in impeachment depositions, according to officials with direct knowledge of the proceedings, as well as in at least one open hearing held by a House committee not involved in the impeachment inquiry.'”
What’s also known is that Ciaramella’s actions as the whistleblower whose complaint against President Donald Trump triggered the ongoing impeachment proceedings were rooted in bias, as determined by the intelligence community inspector general.
Based on his bias and his ties to both the Russia probe and the administration of former President Barack Hussein Obama (which was responsible or triggering the probe), Judicial Watch strongly feels his record needs be scrutinized.
“Judicial Watch recently compiled an extensive list of persons Ciaramella met while in the Obama-era White House,” the press release continues.
The list includes the following figures, some of whom are linked to very shady entities and actions:
- “Daria Kaleniuk, co-founder and executive director of the Soros-funded Anticorruption Action Center (AntAC) in Ukraine”
- “Gina Lentine, formerly the Eurasia program coordinator at Soros funded Open Society Foundations”
- [A]nd former Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, who had extensive involvement with Clinton-funded dossier.”
“The logs also reveal that Alexandra Chalupa, a contractor hired by the DNC during the 2016 election who coordinated with Ukrainians to investigate President Trump and his former campaign manager Paul Manafort, visited the White House 27 times,” the release adds.
Whether or not one of those visits involved meeting with the partisan whistleblower remains unknown.
The press release concludes by summarizing the argument for why Judicial Watch seeks more information on Ciaramella’s activities.
“Thanks to the Obama Spygate scandal and the related abusive impeachment of President Trump, there is significant public interest in Ciaramella’s activities,” it reads. “We know he was involved in the Russia collusion investigation, and he was a key CIA operative on Ukraine in the both the Obama and Trump White Houses. Our lawsuits are designed to break through the unprecedented cover-up of his activities.”
Investigations into the whistleblower have proven to be difficult to complete because of the left’s stubborn, paranoid assertion that his name and record must remain hidden. It’s to the point that even sharing a story that names the whistleblower is enough to trigger liberal Democrats and their media allies.
Case in point: On Thursday the president reportedly retweeted the following post, which itself linked to an article at the Washington Examiner about Ciaramella and his ties to House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff:
It’s pretty simple. The CIA “whistleblower” is not a real whistleblower! https://t.co/z6bjGaFCSH pic.twitter.com/RHhkY1BGei

In response, the establishment left erupted in outrage:
“To assert that anyone is the whistleblower, especially when they’re fearing for their lives, is wholly irresponsible and reckless.” -Irvin McCullough, Government Accountability Project https://t.co/kRGcLNGU1p

This is not acceptable behavior from the so-called leader of our country, and he must be called to task for it!https://t.co/QeuaDdSgJQ

Trump has now tweeted out the alleged identity of the whistleblower who anonymously accused him of abusing his office in a complaint that has since been broadly corroborated. Federal law protects the whistleblower from retaliation and POTUS just outed him. Disturbing stuff.

Trump retweeted a post by his re-election campaign’s “war room” linking an article that named the alleged whistleblower, whose complaint ultimately led to impeachment.https://t.co/zTFcpk4AYE

It sure looks like an attempt by Trump to intimidate other potential whistleblowers from coming forward. https://t.co/EtcAsES4oi

God forbid anyone even mention the name of the whistleblower, a man whose politically motivated actions triggered an unjust and unfair impeachment process that’s opposed by a majority of the American people.
