Tom Fitton of the authoritative watchdog group Judicial Watch warned Monday that so long as Democrats control the House, President Donald Trump may face endless impeachments (note the plural) — even if he wins reelection come 2020.
And especially so long as the GOP-led Senate refuses to hold the House accountable by, for example, putting House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff on trial.

“Impeachment will be used against this president as long as the House is controlled by the coup cabal,” he said to Fox Business Network fill-in-host Greg Jarrett late Monday.
“And he should plan on this for not only this year but, if the Pelosi majority retains control of the House, for his second term.”
Unless, Fitton added, the Senate makes efforts now to impose a “penalty for this wild abuse of power” that’s been perpetrated by congressional Democrats.
“If I were the Senate, rather than put the president through an abusive trial, I would have some kind of preliminary hearing, where the prosecutorial misconduct, the abuse of power is at issue before a select committee of the Senate that investigates what Schiff did and investigates the other abuses of the coup cabal so that there’s a report to the larger Senate, and they can decide whether to even let this trial get out of the gate,” he said.
“I don’t think there should be a full-blown trial. If anyone goes on trial in the Senate, it should be Adam Schiff and his cohorts.”
“I agree!” Jarrett effusively replied.
Their shared disdain for the House Intelligence Committee chair stems from his willingness to flaunt any and every rule and norm in his quest to unseat the president.
He’s lied in interviews, told blatant tall-tales during public congressional hearings, coached witnesses, met privately with the infamous partisan whistleblower and purposefully leaked certain details to the public while trying to bury other details.
He also unethically obtained the phone numbers of a journalist and several of his congressional Democrats. More on this later.
House Democrats have repeatedly chastised Schiff for his rule violations, but all for naught, as he’s continued behaving like an unaccountable independent counsel.
Nevertheless, two months ago Rep. Matt Gaetz filed an official ethics complaint against Schiff over his “false statement” and notorious rule-breaking.
I just filed an ethics complaint against @RepAdamSchiff over his handling of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

And then earlier this month, House Judiciary Committee ranking member Devin Nunes sent Schiff a public letter blasting him for his “alarming” and “blatant disregard” of the long-established rules governing the impeachment process.
But again, the Democrat lawmaker has ignored all this.
What’s not clear is whether he’ll be able to ignore a federal lawsuit filed against him last week by Fitton’s own Judicial Watch.
“Judicial Watch announced it today filed a lawsuit against Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and the House Intelligence Committee for the controversial subpoenas issued for phone records, including those of Rudy Giuliani, President Trump’s lawyer,” the watchdog group announced late last week.
“The phone records led to the publication of the private phone records of Giuliani, Congressman Devon Nunes, journalist John Solomon, Trump attorney Jay Sekulow, attorney Victoria Toensing, and other American citizens.”
“Adam Schiff abused his power to secretly subpoena and then publish the private phone records, in potential violation of law, of innocent Americans. What else is Mr. Schiff hiding?” Fitton himself asked in a statement published at the time.
“Schiff and his Committee ran roughshod over the rule of law in pursuit of the abusive impeachment of President Trump. This lawsuit serves as a reminder that Congressman Schiff and Congress are not above the law.”

During his appearance Monday on FBN, Fitton didn’t address this particular suit, though he did speak about two other Judicial Watch suits.
One suit was filed against the CIA and demands access to the whistleblower’s emails, while the other was filed against the Department of Justice and demands access to the communications of disgraced former FBI employees Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and Andrew McCabe.
The Judicial Watch president’s remarks were made only about two hours after attorneys for the Judiciary Committee filed a legal brief in which they indicated House Democrats may try to file additional articles of impeachment against the president.
The brief specifically concerned former White House counsel Don McGahn, whom the president has blocked from testifying before either the House Intelligence or Judiciary committees.
The attorneys argued that, though articles of impeachment have already been filed, McGahn should be compelled to testify anyway. Why? Because, they wrote, his testimony could be used to file additional articles of impeachment.
