Holiday film ‘Home Alone 2’ gets Wikipedia page locked over Trump impeachment mess

Screengrab Home Alone Two

Since Nov. 2016, everything in America seems to revolve around President Donald Trump — even Wikipedia.

Wikipedia has locked its page for the film “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” due to a bizarre “edit war” involving the impeachment of the president — the page can still be pulled up, just not edited.

“Someone edited Home Alone 2’s Wikipedia page to note that @realDonaldTrump was its first cast member to be impeached. That apparently started an edit war. The change has been removed and the page is now locked for “persistent vandalism,'” tweeted journalist Bill Lascher.

The tweet captured a screenshot of the edit referencing Trump, who made a cameo in the film directing young Kevin to the Plaza Hotel’s lobby — Trump owned the hotel at the time.

The edited line read: “On December 18th, 2019 Donald Trump became the first cast member from Home Alone 2 to be impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives.”

The scene featuring a very young Donald Trump can be seen below:

When the Wikipedia page is pulled up, a blue lock with the letter “E” is seen in the upper right corner of the page.

The symbol refers to “extended confirmed protection,” which reportedly means only proven Wikipedia editors are allowed to make changes to the page.

Wikipedia says on its website: “Where semi-protection has proven to be ineffective, administrators may use extended confirmed protection to combat disruption (such as vandalism, abusive sockpuppetry, edit wars, etc.) on any topic.”

Actor Matt Damon said during a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Trump would allow movies to be shot in his buildings if he was given a cameo role.

“The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of his buildings, you had to write him in a part. [Director] Martin Brest had to write something in “Scent of a Woman” — and the whole crew was in on it,” Damon said.

“You have to waste an hour of your day with a bullshit shot: Donald Trump walks in and Al Pacino’s like, ‘Hello, Mr. Trump!’ — you had to call him by name — and then he exits,” he added. “You waste a little time so that you can get the permit, and then you can cut the scene out. But I guess in Home Alone 2 they left it in.”

The “edit war” made for an entertaining moment for social media users, to include the Kool-Aid drinking Trump haters.
