For the first time in 35 years, Eddie Murphy was back hosting “Saturday Night Live,” and in reprising his spot-on impersonation of Bill Cosby, let it be known that Cosby is no longer under the liberal umbrella of protection.
“If you told me 30 years ago that I’d be this boring stay-at-home house dad and Bill Cosby would be in jail, even I wouldn’t have took that bet,” Murphy said.
“Who is America’s dad now?” he added, imitating the disgraced comedian’s voice.
A convicted sex offender, Cosby is currently in prison serving a 3 to 10-year sentence for sexually assaulting a woman in his home.
At his height, back in the late 80s when Murphy was really funny, he did a hilarious take on Cosby and comedian Richard Prior during his “Eddie Murphy Raw” tour.

Speaking of adult language the “SNL” alum let slip a curse word on the live broadcast Saturday night during a segment called the “Holiday Baking Championship.”
Murphy played Mitch, a contestant who said he made a cake of Sonic Hedgehog that didn’t turn out too well.
“We can still win this sh*t,” Murphy said, speaking to the hideous cake, before quickly putting his hand over his mouth.
He also did a parody of Mr. Rodgers, explaining in the sketch the changes that have come to his neighborhood via gentrification.
“So much has changed since we last spent some time together,” Murphy said. “My neighborhood has gone through so much. It has gone through something called gentrification. Can you say that? It’s like a magic trick. White people pay a lot of money and then poof! All the black people are gone. But where do they go, boys and girls? Back to where they come from, of course: Atlanta.
“Now it’s just me by myself. You’re all probably wondering how Mr. Robinson can afford to live in this neighborhood. That’s the word of the day: squatter’s rights. It’s like finders keepers but for other people’s houses,” he added
The comedian also appeared in the “Weekend Update” sketch in a reprisal of his Gumby character.
“I am Gumby, damn it,” he informs Michael Che and Colin Jost.
Murphy’s celebrated return saw fellow comedians Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, and Dave Chappelle join him onstage during his monologue.

Of course, a return wouldn’t be complete without an appearance of Murphy’s memorable “Buckwheat” character.
In a parody of The Masked Singer, a contestant dressed like a corn on the cob sang “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You.”
When unmasked, that contestant turned out to be Buckwheat, complete with the “o-tay” catchphrase.
“We’ve missed you these past 30 years, and it’s great to have you back,” said Melissa Villaseñor’s portrayal of Nicole Scherzinger.
