Pelosi claims bipartisan ‘spring in their step’ after impeachment, then shuts down questions in presser

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi undermined her own assertion that impeachment was a “somber” affair by claiming that people – regardless of political affiliation – have a “spring in their step” following Wednesday’s vote. This, of course, is predicated on the thoroughly false idea that impeachment was a bipartisan effort and was supported by people on both sides of the aisle. Yesterday’s vote was strictly along party lines, with no Republicans siding with Democrats, and President Donald Trump is facing an outpouring of both financial and emotional support as the result of impeachment.

During her weekly press conference on Thursday, Pelosi opened by stating that she was positive about the outcome of the impeachment vote the day before, claiming that she has received phone calls from people across the political spectrum, effectively thanking her for what she did.

“We’ve been hearing from people all over the country in the last, since last night and this morning,” she claimed. “Seems like people have a spring in their step because the president was held accountable for his reckless behavior.”

“No one is above the law, and the constitution is the supreme law of the land,” she added. “No one is above the law and the president has been held accountable.”

“It really is interesting to see the response that we are getting, bipartisan, across party lines,” she continued dubiously. “I myself want to say I have a spring in my step because of the moral courage of our caucus, to see them all, so many of a hundred members go to the floor — That’s all that we had time for — To go to the floor and speak about our constitution, about the facts of the case, so clearly, so patriotically, so prayerfully, and so solemnly — but so definitely.”

When asked if potentially withholding the articles of impeachment from the Senate is such a good idea, Pelosi turned into a stuttering, blubbering mess. At one point, she even hit the mic while making wild hand gestures.

It wasn’t long until the barrage of questions regarding impeachment finally got to Pelosi, causing her to lash out at reporters and demand they ask questions about something else as if it’s not her party’s fault that nothing but the impeachment debacle has dominated headlines for the last several months.

This is quite a departure from Wednesday night, when – while reading the party-line vote to pass articles of impeachment – Pelosi shot a death glare over at her colleagues who were preparing to celebrate the result.
