At times, when listening to Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., speak, one may wonder if the lawmaker is presenting an intentional parody of a Democrat, or think that they have somehow stumbled onto a Saturday Night Live skit.
Johnson began trending online Thursday as the House Judiciary Committee trudged along with the long “markup” process on two weak articles of impeachment against President Trump, after he offered a bizarre take on the “imbalance of power” between the U.S. president and his Ukrainian counterpart.
Ya’ think?
Not only is Johnson fascinated with Trump’s height, his analogy included imagining Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s teenage daughter having been kidnapped by Trump and tied up in his basement.
“Colleague from Georgia talks about how Democrats are trying to make Zelensky look weak. Well, I’ll tell you that brings to mind the picture of President Trump and President Zelensky meeting in New York in September at the U.N. and a big chair for President Trump, little chair for President Zelensky,” Johnson said. “Big, six-foot-four President Trump, five-foot-eleven President Zelensky.”
You can’t help but be fascinated by Johnson’s ramblings, simply out of curiosity over where he might be going — even as you feel the nervousness of his fellow Democrats, anticipating a pending disaster — and he didn’t disappoint, delivering pure comedy.
“They’re standing there, President Trump is holding court,” Johnson added. “And he says, ‘Oh, by the way, no pressure.’ And you saw President Zelensky shaking his head as if his daughter was downstairs in the basement, duct-taped.”
The remark drew laughter from the room, and a sigh of relief of sorts from Democrats and their media allies, who understand that as peculiar as Johnson’s remarks were, things could have been much worse.
Like the time Johnson, 65, talked about the island of Guam tipping over and capsizing due to so much military equipment and forces.
To be fair this is the same guy who thought Guam might tip over. Not new for Hank! https://t.co/34bbVK6YO3

The good news for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is that Johnson found the crime that Democrats failed to deliver in their two weak articles of impeachment — kidnapping!
But then, Johnson is full of… unique opinions about things, as seen below in his take earlier this year on Trump supporters:
Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA): “Donald Trump and his Make America Great Again followers…are older, less educated, less prosperous, and they are dying early. Their life spans are decreasing, and many are dying from alcoholism, drug overdoses, liver disease, or simply a broken heart.” pic.twitter.com/YYmwopUZDm

The Trump White House, not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, quickly reacting to Johnson’s strange analogy about the president’s height.
“JUST IN: Democrats want to impeach the President for [checks notes] being too tall,” read a tweet from the official White House Twitter account, along with a photo of the two leaders meeting.

Remarkably, Democrats keep electing Johnson to office, as he has held his seat since 2007.
Here’s a sampling of responses to his latest antics from Twitter:
? Same size chairs. Comparing salt shakers, chairs … the Dems really suffer from TDS.

This wouldn’t even crack the top ten list of dumb shit Hank Johnson has ever said, sadly.

Hahaha. These people should not be in a position of power. These are the people making policy decisions? They are literally thinking at a 7th grade level. What real adult in a position of power and influence would say something like this in this type of hearing?

Rep. Hank Johnson just accused Trump of having Zelensky’s daughter in duct tape in a basement. Biggie Smalls reference. Disgraceful.
