Fox and Friends host Pete Hegseth was banned from Twitter for sharing a screenshot of a manifesto that appeared to be from the Saudi gunman who killed three sailors at Naval Air Station Pensacola Friday morning.
Mohammed Alshamrani, a Royal Saudi Air Force officer, was killed by police, but his extreme anti-American views were visible in a Twitter account under his name. A tweet was posted before the shooting suggesting the attack was inspired by al Qaeda and its founder, Osama bin Laden.
“America as a whole has turned into a nation of evil,” the message said, in part, which is a 2010 quote from al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
Hegseth, an Army veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, shared the screed in a tweet, calling the shooting “Islamic terror,” which he said resulted in the social media platform banning him.
(He received two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge for his service.)
The tweet read: “Here’s the (now blocked) tweet from Saudi Islamist Mohammed Alshamrani, who murder 3 brave Americans in Florida. The coward posted it just hours before his terrorist attack. This is Islamist terror. No reason to ever mince words. Saudi Arabia must be held to account.”
Claiming “big tech does the bidding of the Left,” Hegseth said on Instagram he’d been banned from Twitter, half-expecting that Instagram would also ban him.
“Yesterday, I was BANNED from [Twitter] — because I posted a screen shot of the terrorist from Florida tweeting his Islamist motivations. That’s it, a screen shot of a terrorist in his own words,” the post read.
“If they can ban me, they will ban anyone. We need to fight back,” Hegseth continued. “Heck, I posted the terrorist screenshot on this post too, so stay tune for [Instagram] banning me too.
“Big tech does the bidding of the Left, especially to include anyone who speaks truth about the threat of radical Islam.”
For the record, national security adviser Robert O’Brien appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning and said of the Pensacola shooting, “To me, it appears to be a terrorist attack.”
The screenshot Hegseth shared on Twitter can be seen below:
In another Instagram post, Hegseth shared a screenshot of an appeal he filed with Twitter, along with the caption, “I’m sure @twitter will heed my “appeal”… #banned.”
The appeal stated: “You blocked me b/c I shared the words — and motivation — of an Islamic terrorist. What are you afraid of?”
As of this writing, Hegseth’s Twitter feed is still visible, although there has been no activity since Friday, which suggests he may be suspended from posting. This being a common tactic employed by Twitter when they deem a violation has occurred.
Needless to say, Twitter didn’t fare well in reactions to the story. Here’s a sampling of the responses:

I would like to know why Pete Hegseth was banned from Twitter? Wasn’t he exercising his right to free speech? Is Twitter now an arm of the communist party? I’m confused
