Nikki Haley blasted for defending people who see Confederate flag as symbol of ‘service, sacrifice and heritage’

Thanks to left-wing propagandists and their eager media enablers, an untold number of Americans have been led to believe that former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley personally views the Confederate flag as a symbol of “service and sacrifice and heritage.”

In a recent interview with conservative radio show host Glenn Beck, Haley spoke about white supremacist Dylann Roof and the mass shooting he committed at a black church in South Carolina four years ago, when she was still the state’s governor. Because of Roof’s support for the Confederate flag, at the time Haley chose to remove the flag from the South Carolina statehouse.

“South Carolina fell to our knees when this happened,” she said. “This is one of the oldest African-American churches. These twelve people [who were murdered] were amazing people. They loved their church. They loved their family. They loved their community. And here is this guy who comes out with his manifesto holding the Confederate flag and just hijacked everything that people thought of.”

“We don’t have hateful people in South Carolina. There’s always the small minority that’s always going to be there. But people saw it as service and sacrifice and heritage. But once he did that, there was no way to overcome it.”

Many South Carolinians did indeed look at the Confederate flag as a symbol of “service and sacrifice and heritage,” including Byron Thomas, a black former University of South Carolina student who penned a column in 2015 detailing his love of the Confederate flag and bemoaning the hatred and bigotry he experiences for that love.

But to the media, facts come second and propaganda comes first. So when a propagandist with the radical left-wing group Media Matters falsely accused Haley of saying that she herself believes the Confederate flag is about “service and sacrifice and heritage,” its drooling media and social media lapdogs pounced.

Case in point: Over at Axios, an allegedly esteemed news source founded by former Politico staffers Jim VandeHei, Mike Allen, and Roy Schwartz, its so-called “journalists” literally embedded a false Media Matters tweet right in their “story.”

The site’s purportedly objective, non-biased “journalists” also shared a tweet of their own claiming that Haley had said “the Confederate flag represents ‘service, sacrifice, and heritage.'” Axios was eventually forced to retract the tweet after backlash:

However, as of Saturday morning, Media Matters’ propagandist Jason Campbell’s tweet on the matter still remained embedded in the outlet’s story.

That being said, CNN itself actually did a good job portraying Haley’s words accurately:

That headline is 100 percent accurate. Well done. But for every piece of good news, there’s invariably some bad news, and the bad news is that the latest edition of “nonpartisan” CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter’s daily newsletter contains not one but TWO instances of fill-in “nonpartisan” writer Oliver Darcy citing Media Matters as a valid source.

If the media want to know why an overwhelming majority of Americans distrust them, this is why.

As correctly noted by The Hill chief Washington correspondent Saager Enjeti, the smearing of Haley and anybody else like her “plays itself out every single day” in media and social media, and all thanks to the left’s propagandists.

“Lies worm their way from left-wing oppo shops and ‘media reporters’ to the pages/airwaves of the most powerful media organizations on this planet,” he tweeted late Friday.
