Former Vice President Joe Biden is now pitting himself against the hard-left faction of the Democratic Party, disagreeing with the assessment made by DNC chair Tom Perez that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the “future” of the party.
Ocasio-Cortez, the radical freshman from New York, is a self-described socialist and has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who is open about his own socialist views.
Axios host Mike Allen asked Biden about Medicare for All during an HBO interview and the candidate declared, “The party’s not there. The party’s not there at all.”
Characterizing it as “bad judgment,” as opposed to “fake news,” Biden said the media “got it all wrong” about the Democratic Party after Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential run crashed and burned.
“You know the numbers. You guys got it all wrong about what happened,” he insisted.
Mentioning Ocasio-Cortez by her well-known initials, AOC, Biden said the party has not moved “extremely to the left.”
“You all thought that what happened was the party moved extremely to the left after Hillary. AOC was a new party. She’s a bright, wonderful person, but where’s the party? Come on, man.”
While there may have been some early hysteria over Ocasio-Cortez, once her chief of staff/handler left, the lawmaker seemed to lose much of her pizzazz.
Whether this was related to Saikat Chakrabarti‘s departure, or more about grotesque overexposure by the media, which fell in love with her socialist ways, Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t draw the same interest in DC these days.
A video of her giving a “Rent is too Damn High” floor speech in the House showed but a handful of people on hand to hear her class warfare rhetoric.
.@RepAOC @AOC floor speech on housing: "As our wages remain stable or the same, rent is going up and it becomes harder and harder to afford the very things that keep ourselves afloat and alive."

While there will be arguments made (speeches are televised and often watched in offices) as to why the chamber was all but empty, it’s a bad look for a rising Dem ‘superstar’ and could be a signal of Ocasio-Cortez’s waning appeal.
Biden has taken on the hard-left faction of the party before, calling Medicare for All, which is backed by Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., irrational.
Back in July, while speaking with CNN’s Chris Cuomo in Des Moines, Iowa, he said Democrat voters are “center-left,” and again naming Ocasio-Cortez by name, said the radical wing of the party will not appeal to voters in the general election.
“I think Ocasio-Cortez is a brilliant, bright woman, but she won a primary,” Biden told Cuomo. “In the general election fights, who won? Mainstream Democrats who are very progressive on social issues and very strong on education and healthcare.”
Sanders came to AOC’s defense after Biden’s remark, prompting her to respond with a thank you.
Ocasio-Cortez, who pushed the radical Green New Deal, also blasted Joe Biden in May for a more moderate approach to climate change.
This is a dealbreaker.
There is no “middle ground” w/ climate denial & delay.
Blaming “blue collar” Americans as the main opponents to bold climate policy is gas lobbyist 101.
We’re not going to solve the climate crisis w/ this lack of leadership. Our kids’ lives are at stake. https://t.co/KvrBmaJd75

Suffice it to say, the former vice president’s take was not well received among woke progressives:
Long after Joe Biden and his withered establishment pals are gone, AOC and her progressive colleagues will be cleaning up the mess they left.

Perhaps, there’s but one way to settle this, as a social media user noted:
Only one way to settle this… pushup challenge.
