CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter has found it exceedingly difficult to understand why many conservatives, including those employed at Fox News, are so outraged by Democrat star witness Pamela Karlan’s attack on 13-year-old Barron Trump.
Stelter, a media critic whose regular newsletter postings and columns sometimes (not always) read like Democrat Party propaganda sheets, seemingly chose for his part to just ignore Karlan’s attack, as it wasn’t directly mentioned either in his Wednesday newsletter or on his Twitter feed.
He did however indirectly mention it in tweets he posted criticizing Fox News, which he seems to obsessively watch in search of material which he can use to attack the network.
Observe:
How many times will the Barron/baron moment be replayed on Fox tonight, you think? I’ve seen it twice in the past 30 minutes.

Now @MarthaMaccallum is interviewing @RepMattGaetz about his outrage about the Barron/baron moment. The anchor says witness Pam Karlan showed “obvious insensitivity.”

He seemed to be suggesting that host Martha MacCallum’s statement was opinionated. Perhaps it was. But given as CNN’s own “journalists” frequently inject their invariably left-wing and sometimes just plain nasty opinions into their “reports,” what’s the problem?
What specifically happened yesterday was that, while testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, allegedly esteemed Stanford Law School professor Pamela Karlan posited an uncouth comparison involving President Donald Trump’s son.
“[W]hile the President can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron,” she said in an attempt to make a point about how the president isn’t above the law.
While it’s true that she later apologized after first lady Melania Trump slammed her, many felt that the fact that she even said what she said deserved more scrutiny.
And the fact that establishment media players like Stelter remain so adamant in their belief otherwise seems awfully telling to some, given the lengths to which the media have gone to protect the children — some of them fully grown — of Democrat political figures:
@brianstelter: Republicans should just TAKE it when their minor kids are used as a cudgel in congressional hearings, unlike when it’s Sasha and Malia Obama
— Michael (@Michael2014abc) December 5, 2019
I know @brianstelter can’t grasp the concept of a minor being off limits because he is a hypocrite. He’s trying to gaslight, downplay and justify.
— Kellie (@KellieKellie916) December 5, 2019
Oh please, Tater. Substitute Sasha or Malia’s name in there and you’ve have it on non-stop for 72hrs.

Yet somehow you think grown-up Hunter Biden is off-limits!
— American Mom (@RedwoodForest25) December 5, 2019
If the garbage that Hunter Biden was pulling is off limts Brian, then so should the President’s 13 year old son be. She’s a nitwit
— Fathog 99 (@Fathog99) December 5, 2019
How many times did CNN run pieces that Biden’s child Hunter should be left alone?
— Allen Jenner (@JennerAllan) December 5, 2019
Yeah it’s ok to attack a kid, as long as it serves a purpose to hurt Trump. Hunter Biden is off limits even if he’s a lot older. This is sick but I’m sure you’re ok with it .

Stelter wound up doubling down on his dismissal of Karlan’s attacks a couple of hours later by purposefully choosing to not even mention it in his newsletter.
And then when one reader dared to criticize him for the decision, he published the reader’s complaint and then retweeted a Twitterati member who seems to believe the reader must be a Fox News viewer, because only FNC viewers care about children?
Look:
A disappointed reader just sent me a email because, in the newsletter, “the hit on Barron Trump wasn’t the top news story of the day you shill.”
No, it was not the top story of the day.

I wonder where this person got the idea that this was the “top story” of the day. pic.twitter.com/bihrpXR3dy

He may have had a point, though, given as there were a few larger developments at Wednesday’s hearing.
One, Judiciary Committee member Matt Gaetz, a Republican, slammed Karlan for her “mean” remark about Barron:
Matt Gaetz SLAMS witness Pamela Karlan for invoking 13 year old Barron Trump in her attack on Trump.
He then asks, “If you have personal knowledge of a single material fact in the Schiff report, please raise your hand.”
**silence**

And two, civil libertarian witness Jonathan Turley, a legal scholar and George Washington University Law School professor who’s actually unbiased, articulated why the Democrats’ impeachment drive against the president is “woefully inadequate.”
Listen:
While three other witnesses also testified, including Karlan, they’ve all been outed as rabidly partisan left-wingers whose opinions on the matter are extremely suspect.
In Karlan’s case, she’s a self-described “snarky, bisexual” leftist who’s donated to Democrats all her life and was on failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s Supreme Court shortlist. She also seems to loathe white men.
But don’t expect to hear these facts from CNN. The network routinely buries or outright ignores those facts that aren’t conducive to the Democrat Party’s agenda. If it identified as a liberal news network, then this would be OK. But it continues to feign impartiality, even as it purposefully chooses to ignore a brazen attack on the president’s 13-year-old. And not just any brazen attack, but one from — ironically enough — a partisan hack.
