It appears that embattled Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp refuses to explain to the American people why he’s planning to appoint an abortion-linked Mitt Romney fan to succeed incumbent Sen. Johnny Isakson after Isakson formally resigns over health concerns on Dec. 31.
“We’ve invited Gov. Kemp on radio and TV to explain this decision. … He’s declined our multiple invitations. He can’t find five minutes either today or tomorrow,” Fox News host Sean Hannity revealed Monday evening.
Like other thoroughbred conservatives — including President Donald Trump, whom Kemp has effectively snubbed — the FNC host takes issue with Kemp’s expected choice of Kelly Loeffler, a businesswoman who donated nearly a million dollars to a pro-Romney PAC in 2012 and boasts numerous ties to the abortion industry:

Loeffler is also co-owner of the Atlanta Dream of the Women’s National Basketball Association. In 2018, the WNBA donated a portion of ticket sales to abortion business Planned Parenthood. [7/7]

According to Hannity, a better choice would be current House Judiciary Committee ranking member and “rock star” Doug Collins.
“I have no idea what the Republican governor of Georgia is doing,” he said. “Doug Collins, who’s turned into a rock star [in the flailing impeachment debacle], is demanding that an essential corrupt figure in this entire ordeal — the corrupt, compromised, cowardly, congenital liar Adam Schiff — be made to testify.”
“One note about Congressman Collins. He would be the single best choice to fill that Senate seat vacated by the retiring senator — good guy, somebody I’ve known for years, he had some health issues, Johnny Isakson, we wish him well.”
Returning to Collins, Hannity maintained that he’s “single-handedly helped spearhead the GOP’s impeachment-coup-resistance with great, great courage and conviction — unlike so many others.”
Fact-check: TRUE.
“I don’t know why the governor of Georgia … is appointing what appears to be an untested, big-Republican Romney donor described by many as a ‘RINO.’ … Why appoint a huge Romney supporter, not a Trump supporter? Some groups that this person’s associated with has raised a lot of questions,” the FNC host concluded.

Also in agreement is the president, who reportedly explicitly asked Kemp to appoint Collins to the position during what was described as a “tense” meeting last month.
Yet the Georgia governor has dismissed everybody’s concerns.

Despite his rhetoric, as of Tuesday morning, he was still expected to ultimately choose Loeffler — a woman linked to the abortion industry — for the position.
Some commenters have defended his pick on the basis that it’d allegedly help Republicans court suburban women (who represent a huge demographic going into 2020) and it’d force Collins to remain in the House, where his efforts to hold Democrats accountable for their never-ending shenanigans have earned him widespread praise.
In fact, Kemp is reportedly planning to announce his pick at the exact same time Wednesday morning that Collins will be busy likely keeping House Judiciary Committee chair Jerry Nadler and his Democrat colleagues in check:

It’s unclear why Kemp doesn’t just show up on Hannity’s widely popular radio or TV (or both?) program and articulate these arguably valid points.
It’s also unclear why, despite being snubbed by the Georgia governor, the president hasn’t tweeted on this matter. He may just be trying to avoid having their dirty laundry aired publicly.
