For all the cries on the left about the “dictator-like attack by President Donald Trump on everything this country stands for,” as liberal actor Robert Redford recently stated, 2020 Democratic candidates clamoring for votes offer more reasons to be concerned.
With promises flying galore among the party’s presidential hopefuls in the quest to appease the hard-left base, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is telling voters that she will do away with the Electoral College in favor of direct democracy.
“My goal is to get elected — but I plan to be the last American president to be elected by the Electoral College. I want my second term to be elected by direct vote,” Warren tweeted, along with a video.

In the clip, Warren takes a simplistic approach to the Electoral College that flies well with their low information base, who don’t have much of a clue about why the body of electors was established by the U.S. Constitution.
She doesn’t bother to educate them that it resulted from a compromise between large and small states in 1787, giving smaller states more say in electing the president.
Warren also doesn’t seem to grasp that it would take a constitutional amendment to alter the Electoral College, which must be proposed by a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress and ratified by three-fourths of the States.
Either way, woke Democrats now claim the system in place is corrupt and unfair.
“My goal is to get elected and then abolish the unfair corrupt system that elected me,” Stephen Miller sarcastically tweeted.

Of course, if Warren’s goal is to really do away with the Electoral College, she may be better served to stay where she is:
You know who participates in the process of amending the Constitution? Senators.
You know who doesn’t? Presidents. https://t.co/3AiAPMlfXw

The POTUS literally has zero say in the process to eliminate the Electoral College. If your goal is to help push through a bunch of moronic constitutional amendments, you should stay in the Senate. https://t.co/1IxE2od4Va

As pointed out by Erielle Davidson, a staff writer at The Federalist, if Democrats have their way, presidential candidates could campaign “almost exclusively” in New York, California, Texas, and Florida.
Under this system, candidates would spend their time almost exclusicely in NY, CA, TX, and FL. Why would they bother caring what voters in IA or ND think? This idea is crap, and you should do some long thinking about why this is a terrible idea. https://t.co/SdkyThSg5v

If there was a common theme to the online reaction, it would center on that pesky ol’ Constitution.
Here’s a sampling of other responses from Twitter:
Elizabeth Warren wanting to become Dictator in Chief to amend the Constitution is a weird flex.

No thanks, I like the Constitution

I was recently informed you dems love the Constitution. Apparently that only applies to the 25th amendment, & the rest can be trashed. ?

Would that be before or after you pack the Supreme Court, do away with voter ID, allow felons and illegals to vote and essentially shred The Constitution to “uneven” the playing field.

Screaming that Trump is blowing up the constitution while campaigning that she will blow up the constitution by getting rid of the electoral college. Typical liberal

You’re living in a dream world if you think the electoral college is going anywhere.
Regardless of whether you approve of it or not, you will never in a million years get state legislatures or federal legislators to vote in the numbers necessary to change it.
Literally never.
