Former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is locked in a legal tussle with an ex-stripper over financial support for a baby born out of wedlock that he’s responsible for.
The younger Biden’s finances have been a point of interest given his controversial involvement with the Ukrainian gas company Burismo Holdings, and now he has a reason to attempt to seal all financial records in the paternity case.
And he has done just that, filing a request in Arkansas this week, Daily Mail reported.
“Due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the parties involved in this matter, it is in the interest of justice and necessary for a Protective Order to be in place,’ Biden attorney Dustin McDaniel said, according to Daily Mail.
Biden’s legal team claimed that any disclosure would cause their client “undue prejudice, annoyance, embarrassment, and/or oppression,” citing fears that the media would “maliciously” use the personal information.
“The likelihood that [Biden’s] private records will be used in an inappropriate or malicious manner for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with these proceedings is exceedingly high and should not be tolerated by the court,” the filing reads.
It was recently revealed that Biden was the father of a child born to Lunden Roberts — he met the 28-year-old woman at the Mpire Gentlemen’s Club in Washington D.C., where she worked as a stripper.
This was around the time he was dating his brother’s widow, according to sources, and Roberts’ lawyer said she went public with a DNA test because Biden stopped paying child support. She is requesting to be reimbursed $11,057.80 for the DNA test and “all other just and proper relief to which she might be entitled.”
Biden requested that a hearing set for Monday be delayed until a decision on his protective order is made.
He claimed in a signed sworn statement that he has been unable to complete a required affidavit on his finances because he lacks the information to do so.
Biden, who sat on the board of Burisma until earlier this year, earning as much as $50,000 a month, told the court he’s out of work and has no income.
“In an effort to demonstrate to this court my good faith, I attest that I am unemployed and have had no monthly income since May 2019,” he said in a statement.
The statement also said that he has incurred “significant debts,” in part because of an April 2017 divorce to Kathleen Biden — she filed for divorce as Hunter was involved romantic affair with his dead brother’s widow, Hallie.
Kathleen accused her ex-husband in court records of blowing the family’s savings on drugs and hookers.
The request for a protective order could fall into the “Never Let a Crisis Go To Waste” file, given that it would require all financial information disclosed during the proceedings remain entirely confidential.
But more importantly, given Hunter Biden’s controversial dealings in Ukraine — which the media has little interest in — and the ongoing scrutiny involving that country, the order would protect information about Biden’s business ventures, investments, expenses, taxes, or personal property valuations, as well the disclosure of his alleged debts.
