‘President Pelosi’ trends after Sondland claims Pence knew, WH pushes back on testimony

Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, testified before the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, day four of the Democratic Party’s dog and pony impeachment show trial.

Sondland testified that he believes there was quid pro quo in President Trump’s call with the Ukraine president, something the White House immediately pushed back on. The ambassador also said that he told Vice President Mike Pence about the quid pro quo sometime around Sept 1.

Sondland claimed he was pressured to work with Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, on matters with Ukraine despite his objections, and that Giuliani engaged in quid pro quo with Ukraine on behalf of the president.

The latter assertion sparked a little life in Democrats during an otherwise dull morning, as Sondland addressed a pressing problem the party has faced all along in their one-sided quest to take out Trump — which is that Pence would then ascend to the Oval Office.

It was music to the left’s ears when Sondland implicated the vice president, because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is second in the presidential line of succession. In no time, the hashtag #PresidentPelosi began trending on Twitter.

For the record, Sondland also testified that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo knew of the effort and approved it every step of the way.

As for Sondland saying there was definitely a quid pro quo, the White House released a statement pointing to earlier, contradictory statements from the ambassador when he testified behind closed doors.

“Ambassador Sondland previously testified that the president told him directly that he was not interested in a quid pro quo,” the release said. “He testified that President Trump repeatedly made it clear he wanted no quid pro quo.”

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., took to Twitter to take a little sting out of Sondland’s take on quid pro quo, point out a quote from the ambassador as the “most important quote out of this hearing so far.”

Sondland said, “I’ve never heard from President Trump that the aid was conditioned on the investigations.”

In effect, according to Meadows, Sondland “reached this conclusion on his own.”

As for “President Pelosi,” perish the thought, the internet was alive with hilarity at the mere mention, though some noted “how absolutely insane and desperate the Left has become.”

As for how delusional Democrats are, here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
