Taylor aide’s closed door testimony leaks: says Sondland told Trump, Zelensky ‘loves your ass’

In closed-door testimony delivered to the House Intelligence Committee late Friday afternoon, a diplomatic staffer who works under William Taylor, the top diplomat to Ukraine, shared inside information — i.e., secrets — about President Donald Trump’s foreign policy moves.

Speaking privately before the committee hours after former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch’s public testimony (or what some have termed a “therapy session“), Taylor’s aide David Holmes described overhearing a phone call between President Donald Trump and Gordon D. Sondland, the American ambassador to the European Union.

“I heard Ambassador Sondland greet the President and explain that he was calling from Kiev. I heard President Trump then clarify that Ambassador Sondland was in Ukraine. Ambassador Sondland replied, yes, he was in Ukraine, and went on to state that President Zelensky ‘loves your ass,’” he testified.

According to Holmes, the president then allegedly asked Sondland whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was willing to conduct an investigation into credible allegations of corruption surrounding both the 2016 U.S. presidential election and former Vice President Joe Biden.

“I then heard President Trump ask, ‘So, he’s gonna do the investigation?’ Ambassador Sondland replied that ‘he’s gonna do it,’ adding that President Zelenskyy will do ‘anything you ask him to,'” he claimed.

He then admitted that he hadn’t taken notes — that his statements to Congress were based purely on his memory.

“Even though I did not take notes of these statements, I have a clear recollection that these statements were made,” he said. “I believe that my colleagues who were sitting at the table also knew that Ambassador Sondland was speaking with the president.”

Holmes reportedly overheard this conversation at a restaurant in Ukraine’s capital city of Kiev on July 26, a day after the president’s noted phone call with Zelensky.

It’s unclear why he was asked to reveal this inside information, given as it still doesn’t prove the Democrats’ dubious quid pro quo narrative true. All it seemed to do, in fact, was give the world a glimpse into how U.S. foreign policy operatives.

While it’s true the hearing was held behind closed doors, naturally Holmes’ opening statement was leaked to the media, meaning that all of his “gossip” — as his testimony has been termed by some — is now public information.

It’s also unclear why he continued his testimony by delving into the president’s strategy concerning then-jailed rapper ASAP Rocky.

“The conversation then shifted to Ambassador Sondland’s efforts, on behalf of the president, to assist a rapper who was jailed in Sweden, and I could only hear Ambassador Sondland’s side of that part of the conversation,” Holmes said.

After outlining the ultimately successful strategy in some detail, Taylor’s aide then returned to the alleged discussion about corruption in Ukraine — but made it appear as if the one guilty of corruption is the president himself.

“After the call ended … I then took the opportunity to ask Ambassador Sondland for his candid impression of the president’s views on Ukraine. In particular, I asked Ambassador Sondland if it was true that the president did not ‘give a s*** about Ukraine,'” he claimed.

“Ambassador Sondland agreed that the president did not ‘give a s*** about Ukraine.’ I asked why not, and Ambassador Sondland stated that the president only cares about ‘big stuff.’ I noted that there was ‘big stuff’ going on in Ukraine, like a war with Russia, and Ambassador Sondland replied that he meant ‘big stuff’ that benefits the president, like the ‘Biden investigation’ that Mr. Giuliani was pushing. The conversation then moved on to other topics,” he added.

The insinuation was that, instead of trying to root out corruption in Ukraine, the president’s only concern was attacking Biden, who was and still remains his number one threat going into the 2020 presidential election.

This insinuation was based in part on the false premise that Trump’s interest in investigating Biden was unfounded — that there’s no “credible evidence” indicating he committed wrongdoing.

While Holmes’ testimony regarding Sondland could be damaging, keep in mind it counts as secondhand information. It’s Sondland himself who allegedly said these words, and if he just so happens to deny saying them when he testifies before Congress next week, Democrats will again be back to square one.

Meanwhile, loads of information regarding America’s foreign policy moves and measures will have been made public thanks to the Democrats’ impeachment drive.

Regarding Holmes’ first claim — that Sondland told Trump that “Zelensky ‘loves your ass” — if it’s true, it’ll certainly prove one thing, which is that America is indeed once more respected by its allies, or at least Ukraine.

However, whether it was worth exposing America’s foreign policy measures via veritable “gossip” to prove this point is something each individual American will have to decide for themselves.
