April Ryan, a CNN contributor and White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks, got into it with actor Isaiah Washington on Saturday after he called her out for targeting a Republican woman running for the seat held by the late Rep. Elijah Cummings.
Forgetting her role as an alleged reporter — as usual — Ryan blasted Kimberly Klacik, a GOP strategist who just announced that she would run in the special election for the House seat.
“This is the woman who created all the controversy that made [Trump] go after [Rep. Cummings] and Baltimore. Cummings never got over the attack on him and the city. It is all because of her,” Ryan tweeted.

Looking past the fact that Ryan tacitly suggested Trump is partially responsible for the death of Cummings, Klacik is the woman who exposed the run-down conditions in West Baltimore, where certain areas are plagued with rats and trash.
In an aside, CNN’s Brian Stelter chimed in to not only blame Klacik, but also Fox News, which is not surprising, given CNN’s recent shift in going after the rival network by name.
“All because of her… and her ability to get on Fox!” Stelter tweeted.

“Rats & roaches are a problem in almost every home,” Klacik tweeted in July. “Illegal immigrants at the border live in better conditions than Americans in West Baltimore.”
The story blew up in the news cycle, with President Trump weighing in and the media doing its level best to run interference for Cummings, who represented the area.
Trump said Cummings’ district “is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess,” adding that he should spend more time in Baltimore to “help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”
The president also called Cummings “a brutal bully” for “shouting and screaming” at Border Patrol officials for conditions at the southern border when his district “is FAR WORSE and more dangerous.”
….As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place

Back to Washington, the conservative actor responded to Ryan’s tweet by essentially thanking her for the added notoriety she had just granted Klacik’s campaign.
“Way to go [Ryan]! You have just given [Klacik] the massive attention she needed not only for her campaign announcement and fundraising, but ‘this’ tweet will most likely ensure her WIN. Don’t delete it now, because it’s going down in the history books for sure,” Washington tweeted.
For added emphasis, he included the hashtag #KAG — “Keep America Great.”

Ryan responded to say, “And why would I delete the tweet? Your sarcasm is just as entertaining as your performance in ‘Love Jones!'”
She also countered by cautioning that Klacik hasn’t won yet, while thanking Washington for seeing her as a powerful person.
“We shall see who wins,” Ryan tweeted. “Everyone has not jumped into the race as of yet. There are still more who plan to run for that seventh congressional district seat. Thank you for letting me know the power I possess!”

The “power” Washington speaks of being not only her platform on CNN, a national cable network, but also the embrace of the anti-Trump D.C. media complex that Ryan can count on.
Klacik also jumped into the fray, but her tweeted response suggests she’s a serious-minded candidate with bigger fish to fry.
“We will leave April Ryan & Friends to bicker and gossip amongst themselves,” she said. “Tomorrow I will be in Harlem Park helping a few women in the neighborhood organize a rally. If you are able, come join us! I’ll post address in the morning. I am about work & results. Not twitter beefs.”

Here’s a quick sampling of some of the responses to the story on Twitter:

@AprilDRyan Can you imagine being so filled with hatred for your fellow human beings that you would blame an innocent woman for the death of somebody who had been sick for probably the last two years @kimKBaltimore Is definitely the right person for the job
— rosalokeyorbe (@rosalokeyorbe) November 9, 2019
With all due respect, @kimKBaltimore inspired me to organize the Baltimore cleanups,
& we removed 29 tons of trash from the city.
Who could be against that?

The reason why elitists like April Ryan despise & publicly vilify any Black person who dares to challenge their narrative is that they benefit from the failures of our community.
These types do not want Black success instead, they prefer to be the only ones in the room.

Power is an overstretch. It’s usually stupidity that get the attention. And you get a lot of attention.

CORRECTION: This is a brave woman who is one of MANY, to tell the truth about Cummings, a failed elected official.

Saw you on Fox this morning. I can’t vote for you but you have my support. The country needs more women of conscience like yourself. #conservatism over progressivism is the path forward for our #republic

Tell Kim you’re driving them (@AprilDRyan @brianstelter) completely bonkers – they are losing it tonight! I’m sure they’ve got their mugs in a big frozen margarita right now trying to cool down! God bless you! keep up the good work! #KAG2020
