President Donald Trump ain’t just hip — he’s hip to hip hop!
So much so, in fact, that on Friday he announced the first-ever national rap battle.
Dubbed the #MAGAChallenge, the rap battle appears to revolve around the president’s supporters rapping about why they support his movement to “Make America Great Again.”
I will be announcing the winners of the #MAGACHALLENGE and inviting them to the @WhiteHouse to meet with me and perform. Good luck! https://t.co/3PYzOvYz17

The idea originated with Bryson Gray, the young black conservative whose own #MAGAChallenge video the president linked to in the tweet above.
“I think the MAGA challenge is doing what everybody expected Kanye West to do for the [Trump] campaign,” he said in an interview with The Daily Dot after he first introduced the challenge on social media last month.
He added that the challenge was “easing the tensions in the culture and helping get the word out about Trump,” while also proving that “not all Trump voters and GOP are stick ups.”
Are any? The argument could be made that it’s the left that’s brimming with uppity elitism and “bougieness,” not the right.
Watch Bryson’s original submission below:
In response to the president making Bryson’s #MAGAChallenge go viral, two sets of people appeared — fun-loving conservatives ready to get down in funky town, and angry, bitter liberals who apparently now hate rap music too.
Among the fun-loving conservatives was former National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch, who took to Twitter to ask the president if she could be his “Simon Cowell,” i.e., the tough but fair critic known for judging performances on reality TV talent shows like “American Idol.”
Let me be your Simon Cowell ?? https://t.co/xELiFQAUSD

And then of course there were the sincere participants:

Gray first emerged in the spotlight when he went viral for what he wore and said during an interview with a local news station two months ago outside a Trump rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
“I have a lot of friends who tell me that I shouldn’t support Donald Trump because I’m black, which is sort of insane because I can support whoever the hell I want,” he said to local station WNCN at the time. “And then also they tell me that I shouldn’t wear the MAGA hat, so I bought the biggest MAGA hat.”
He wasn’t kidding either.

Dovetailing back to Gray’s rap video, it may very well wind up being the winning submission, not only because of his impressive flow and rap skills — but also because of the song’s prescient lyrics.
“They say ain’t you that MAGA boy? Call me what you want cause it don’t matter boy, I just speak the truth, that’s something they don’t understand. Why these white liberals try to tell me who I am?” the lyrics read.
Now observe how some white liberals have chosen to respond to his song:
Oh my god. I just felt a piece of my soul die. This is so wrong, from every angle. Trump is using you…he is commanding you to dance and sing for him, for his own aggrandizement.
Plus you probably had to donate to him for the honor of debasing yourself. #MAGACHALLENGE https://t.co/KgElRh7WUl
