Amid the Democratic Party’s headlong impeachment dive, it’s only fitting that the term “covfefe” was trending Monday on Twitter, offering a much needed diversion.
The term was all the rage for at least a news cycle or two when accidentally tweeted by President Trump in 2017, and when a thoroughbred named “Covfefe” won Saturday at the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita Park in Southern California, the president looked to have a little fun.
It began with a tweet from the Daily Caller: “A horse named ‘Covfefe’ won a Breeder’s Cup event at Santa Anita today. Named after President Trump’s famous mistweet, she has now won six of her first eight races.”

Taking exception to his original “covfefe” tweet being characterized as a mistake, the president offered a cryptic response to the Daily Caller, suggesting the term may have a “deeper meaning.”
“Great! But how do you know it was a ‘mistweet?’ May be something with deep meaning!” Trump tweeted Monday.

The original tweet, which Trump deleted, read: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe —”
The president followed that up with this: “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’ ??? Enjoy!”

The horse is co-owned by Jamie Roth, who runs LNJ Foxwoods stable.
“We gave the name to her because we thought she was special and we thought the name was kind of funny,” Roth told USA Today.
She is not overly political and said she has not heard from the White House, though Roth did say President Trump is not necessarily her cup of tea.
“He’s not for me, but obviously he is for some other people,” the co-owner said. “He just doesn’t stand for the things that I believe it. But I believe in Covfefe.’’
For what it’s worth, there is a Twitter account set up for the thoroughbred, titled “RealCovfefeRacehorse.”

Setting aside the toxic hatred, the online responses were humorous, although, there was the prerequisite tweets on how we can expect the media to react.
Given the state of affairs today, courtesy of the Democratic Party, even when having a little fun, it’s all but impossible to separate current events.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
