CNN senior international correspondent Nick Paton Walsh apparently does not buy into the idea that sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you.
In response to President Donald Trump announcing to the nation early on Sunday that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed during a “daring and dangerous” raid by U.S. troops, Walsh took issue with the president’s message, likening him to Islamic State barbarians.
“Last night was a great night for the United States and for the world. A brutal killer, one who has caused so much hardship and death, has violently been eliminated. He will never again harm another innocent man, woman, or child. He died like a dog. He died like a coward. The world is now a much safer place. God bless America. Thank you,” Trump said from the White House.
“He died after running into a dead-end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way,” the president added — al-Baghdadi reportedly went into the tunnel with three of his children and detonated a suicide vest.
Trump’s message was apparently too much for the sensitivities of the CNN reporter, as Walsh was “jarred” by Trump’s “disturbing” remarks.
So much so that he compared the president to members of ISIS, which may be a new low for a network that all but dedicates 24/7 coverage to trying to destroy this president.
“There were lots of moments during Donald Trump’s speech which jarred to some degree. It is extraordinary how the communications were managed. It was a long trail ahead of him actually releasing details, explicit details, some of it which sort of echoed frankly the crudeness you would often expect to hear from ISIS about the whimpering, screaming Baghdadi penned down in a sealed tunnel killing himself and his three children. It was sort of disturbing to hear to some degree,” Walsh reported on air.
Walsh has boasted online about winning two Emmys for his ISIS coverage, so he is well aware of the brutality of the Islamic State.

Social media was quick to give Walsh a refresher on what a “disturbing” message looks like.
Anyone mad at Trump for describing #alBaghdadi as a coward, who died wimpering and crying, screw you. That POS deserved a horrible death pic.twitter.com/547tWRRqtt

Of course, Walsh was not the only liberal to take great exception to Trump’s speech — this sarcastic response from conservative Matt Walsh hits the nail on the head:
Good point. ISIS had been pretty big fans of Americans but now that Trump said some mean stuff about their dead leader that will surely change. Thank you for this astute analysis. https://t.co/KwC5LuPeGK

Lost somewhere in CNN’s sensationalism of this story is the reason why millions of Americans so strongly support a president loathed by much of the media.
Here’s a sampling of other responses from Twitter:
Screw you, Nicky. We expect unspeakable violence from ISIS. From President Trump, we expect and get the truth and the grit and the safety we want from our President.
Who have YOU made safer today? Yeah. Didn’t think so, prissy little peckerwood.

He spoke their language loud and clear as a deterrent. That’s how it’s done.
