Democratic chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., posted a tweet amid her party’s impeachment frenzy saying that the president of the United States “needs to be imprisoned [and] placed in solitary confinement.”
“Impeachment is not good enough for Trump,” Waters stated in a tweet that applied her own limited interpretation to his words.
“I’m calling on the GOP to stop Trump’s filthy talk of whistleblowers being spies & using mob language implying they should be killed. Impeachment is not good enough for Trump. He needs to be imprisoned & placed in solitary confinement. But for now, impeachment is the imperative,” she tweeted.

This coming from the woman who set off a frenzy last year when she openly called on party supporters to confront those affiliated with President Trump — a dangerous feat that saw little consequence, other than an empty rebuke from leadership, even though a number of administration officials where publicly accosted and harassed.
“If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” Waters said at the time.
However, that was then and this is now — the difference being that Rudy Giuliani is now part of the equation.
Waters’ tweet was cited as an example of the egregious actions by Democrats in an appearance on Fox News Tuesday night, as the president’s personal attorney warned that he may sue individual members of the party for violating Trump’s civil rights.

The White House described Waters’ comments in the tweet as “outrageous,” Politico reported.
“Congresswoman Waters has wanted to impeach this president since before he took office, and she persists with her extreme and outrageous rhetoric,” said White House spokesperson Judd Deere. “President Trump has done nothing wrong and continues to focus on carrying out his promises to the American people.”
This isn’t the first time that Waters has recklessly called on Trump to be imprisoned.
In July, two days before former special counsel Robert Mueller testified before the House Judiciary Committee, the California lawmaker deemed the president guilty for the deeds of his former attorney Michael Cohen.
“Michael Cohen is serving 3 yrs for the crimes that he committed w/ and for the President of the USA. Many are wondering why this case was closed. It ain’t over until it’s over & it ain’t over until Trump is held responsible for all of his crimes. Impeachment first, prison next!” Waters tweeted.

Waters may want to be careful about calls for imprisonment, as social media users have their own ideas about who should be behind bars.
Here’s a sampling of results from Twitter:
You and your legislative cohorts continue to badger, intimidate, and obfuscate the executive branch, and we’re tired of it

Simmer down, Maxi.
And slowly back away from the window.
Drunk-texting will get you nowhere.

You are a crooked, old, senile windbag. Your a blight on the Congress. You should be arrested and put in solitary confinement for insurrection. Your coup failed once before, its failing again. Trump will ride to easy victory in 2020 while we also take back the house.

I’m calling that @RepMaxineWaters be prosecuted for incitement to violence on Trump supporters.
