Geraldo: First fake outrage over Russia nothingburger, now Ukraine

Screengrab Fox & Friends

You’ve got to hand it to Fox News roaming correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera, just when you’re ready to write him off for good for his liberal take on an event, he delivers a gem.

With Democrats and their media allies whipped into a lather over the latest alleged transgression by President Donald Trump, this being the overreaching take on a call with the Ukrainian president, Rivera let them know that he’s read this script before.

As in the Russian collusion hoax.

Hearing impassioned Democrats agonizing over horrid transgressions of #Ukrainegate would be so much more affecting if they hadn’t used exact same people, language, breathless the-sky-is-falling, Constitution is at stake, phony rhetoric for #RussiaCollusion. Fake then, fake now,” Rivera tweeted.

And while Rivera neglected to mention the obstruction of justice allegations, which followed the release of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report, that too evoked a similar reaction.

As did the claims of campaign violations for money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels and a former Playboy model by ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

The obstruction charge is all that Democrats had to hang their hats on after the Mueller report found no evidence of collusion.

“This is the Russia collusion illusion delusion 2.0,” Rivera said Friday, on “The Five.”

With all the focus on the so-called “whistleblower,” which the New York Times said was a CIA officer assigned to the White House at one point, the Fox News cohost had his own prediction of who spilled the beans on Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I bet this can be traced, ultimately,” Rivera said. “And I’m not accusing, but a group like Media Matters, is in the air, with their dirty hands.”

It would help explain all the peculiarities around the complaint, beginning with reports this person does not have firsthand knowledge of what he alleges happened.

Conveniently, the intelligence community surreptitiously dropped a rule recently that required whistleblowers to have direct, first-hand knowledge of alleged wrongdoings.

There are also reports that the whistleblower had “political bias” in favor of a 2020 Trump rival.

And an alarmed veteran CIA official said the whistleblower complaint against Trump may have been written by left-wing lawyers or congressional staffers. The CIA official characterized it as a “blatant politicization of intelligence by Trump haters.”

During an appearance Friday morning on Fox & Friends, Rivera blasted the person behind the complaint as a “rotten snitch.”

“I’d love to whap him,” he said.

“This poor president,” Rivera added. “His whole tenure in office has been marked by snitches and rats and backstabbers. It’s amazing how he functions at all.”

With Democrats descending into madness in their obsession with taking down a duly-elected president they don’t think they can beat at the ballot box in 13 months, social media users are surprised to see themselves agreeing with Geraldo.
