When it comes to “Republicans” hating on President Donald Trump, S.E. Cupp said on Saturday that America has “crossed the Rubicon” and it is time to impeach Trump.
Of course, the CNN anchor forded those waters long ago as Democrats descend into madness in their obsession to take down this president, and Cupp is now perverting the whole notion of “common sense” as she moves in for the kill.
“It just got real,” Cupp said. “This, folks, is just the beginning. The dam has broken, and we all need to prepare ourselves for what will be a constant flood of new revelations, important revelations, as this process unfolds. We must also be prepared for the flood of misinformation, misdirection, obfuscation, distraction, that will come from the president and his supporters.”
She then ran cover for Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who opened the hearing featuring Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire by ad-libbing fake dialogue between President Trump and Ukraine President Zelensky.
Cupp took exception to Trump using his social media platform to get out ahead of the liberal media working feverishly to set the impeachment narrative — you almost expect to hear the CNN host call for the president to be banned from Twitter.
“He has already flooded Twitter with rantings and ravings, all designed to confuse and clutter the process,” she bellyached, arms flailing all the while.
“Here’s the deal, through all of it, you just have to trust your gut and common sense,” Cupp continued, cherry picking partial phrases, out of sequence, from transcripts of the president’s call with the Ukrainian leader to declare Trump guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors.
In effect, doing what she accused Trump of doing — “confuse and clutter the process” — putting forth Democrat talking points that the president engaged in “explicit quid pro quo,” military aid in exchange for dirt on the Bidens.
Which reasonable legal minds in the country say did not happen.
But then, deep down, the Trump-hating cabal knows this as well, which is why they have quickly moved on from shaky accusation to now focus on the “cover up” — the very action that took down Republican President Richard Nixon.
“When the White House admits it directed the call transcript to be locked down and filed in a separate classified system where few people could see it? That sounds like there’s plenty improper,” she said. “To a lot of people that sounds like a cover-up, in fact.”
These being the same transcripts the White House just released to the public, not that filing transcripts of calls with foreign leaders in a separate computer system is entirely new — former National Security Advisor Susan Rice said the Obama administration sometimes did this.
But if Trump does this, the media speculation is that he is hiding something dubious — heaven forbid that the president of the United States be afforded a little privacy in conducting international diplomacy.
“Guys, Trump is hoping we’re too stupid to put these pieces together,” Cupp said. “He’s betting he can gaslight his way through this, create enough confusion and chaos that we get too tired and overwhelmed to see it clearly as it really is. But this isn’t complicated. It’s pretty darn crystal clear.”
But Cupp ignores her history of opposing President Trump to act as a reasoned analysis in calling for his impeachment.
“Now whether this results in his impeachment is another story,” she concluded. “I’ve been very hesitant to jump on that bandwagon thus far. Namely because there simply wasn’t enough there, and impeachment is generally bad for America, but we have crossed the Rubicon. There’s simply no way around opening an impeachment inquiry. It is the right thing to do, and the time is now.”
