Super-beauty Christie Brinkley recreates iconic red Ferrari scene

Supermodel Christie Brinkley returned to the screen to recreate one of cinema’s most iconic moments while promoting ABC’s season premiere of “The Goldbergs.”

As she did in 1983’s “National Lampoon’s Vacation” with Clark Griswald (Chevy Chase), Brinkley pulls up in a red Ferrari to flirt with an unlikely, but lucky dad driving with his family.

Only this time the dad wasn’t smitten like Griswald.

Looking better than ever, Brinkley continued to blow kisses and sparked some hilarious family banter.

“He’s spoken for!” Beverly Goldberg (Wendi McLendon-Covey) yelled as she warned about the dangers of falling for a “road hussie.”

“Mover over, Murray! We all want to get a good look at @chritiebrinkley reprising an iconic role for The Goldberg’s season premiere!” the show’s Instagram account posted, teasing the scene.

The clever clip was shared on Instagram and received rave reviews stating.

“I think this is a really good reprisal right here, and I think it fits because both families have that same dynamic,” Brinkley told Entertainment Weekly.

“In fact, when they wanted me to do the [2015 remake], they said, ‘They’ll open the door and it’ll be you and Chevy together,’ and I said, ‘Oh, no! No, no, no, you guys would ruin everything because what we loved about the first movie was the fact that they can argue, they can carry on, but at the bottom of everything they stick together and they’re a family. You can’t break up that family,'” she added.

What also sets the reprisal apart is that for the first time, “the girl in the red Ferrari” has a name: Aleah Welsh.

McLendon-Covey thinks the new name opens up the character to new possibilities.

“Now she has a name, which means maybe we can bring her back because we have a name,” she said.

As for Brinkley, she’s just happy to be playing the fun role.

“I’ve really enjoyed this week, it’s great fun,” she told EW.

“And my part was really easy,” Brinkley continued. “And here we are with all these really great people. It’s paying tribute to a film that’s thirtysomething years old now, and the whole thing is just a bowl full of wonderful.”

Brinkley took a moment to soak in the sun behind the wheel of the famous red car.

“The car has remained as beautiful as the girl,” one Instagram user commented.

Of course, the original scene went differently with Griswald hilariously flirting with temptation.

Anthony Michael Hall, who brilliantly played Rusty in “Vacation,” is also expected to make an appearance in the season premiere of “The Goldbergs,” which is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
