President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, expressed his utter disgust Thursday evening with “bitter” Sen. Mitt Romney and those like him who’ve thrown the president under the bus over the “nothing burger” whistleblower complaint.
He made the remark after being questioned by Fox News host Laura Ingraham about those weak-willed Republicans who invariably fall prey to the Democrat Party’s almost always debunked talking points.

“The Republicans in the Senate — Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, a few others — they say this is deeply troubling what we’ve seen in this whistleblower complaint or in this transcript. What do you make of these Republicans?” she asked. “The president has a 94 percent approval rating or around there among Republicans, yet the mainstream media is always looking for that crack — ‘Well, how wide will this division get in the Republican Party?’ What do you say to Mitt Romney tonight, given that he runs to the cameras to express his deeply troubled opinion about this?”
Romney has a track record of buying into left-wing conspiracy theories.
“I don’t know, maybe he is as confused about this as he was when [CNN debate moderator] Candy Crowley contradicted him and his campaign fell apart,” Giuliani sarcastically replied.
During a 2012 presidential debate seven years ago, Crowley “fact-checked” Romney right to his face after the then-GOP nominee told an alleged lie about then-Democrat nominee Barack Obama.
Except that her fact-check was later confirmed to have been completely false. But instead of blasting Crowley for it like Trump would have done had he been in the then-nominee’s shoes, Romney essentially took it on the chin like the passive, weak man he tends to be.

“I mean, come on, this guy’s not the strongest guy you’re going to find anywhere,” Giuliani continued on Thursday evening. “I wouldn’t count on him. And he’s bitter about Donald Trump.”
“It’s like a child. Trump did what you couldn’t do. Trump has an ability to relate to people; you don’t. That’s always been true. One time [former President] Bill Clinton asked me, ‘What’s this guy Romney like?’ You know what I told him? He’s our Al Gore,” he added.
This portion of the discussion then concluded as Ingraham took the show to a commercial break.
The current “scandal” concerns a whistleblower complaint filed by a partisan CIA operative who claims that the president spoke inappropriately during a phone discussion over the summer with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
When the story first broke roughly a week ago, Romney rushed to give it credence.
“If the President asked or pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate his political rival, either directly or through his personal attorney, it would be troubling in the extreme. Critical for the facts to come out,” he tweeted after the media ran reports claiming that Trump had pressured Zelensky into investigating 2020 contender former Vice President Joe Biden for political purposes.

Thanks to the president releasing a copy of the transcript of the phone call to the public this week, it’s since been confirmed the president had simply asked Zelensky to investigate 2020 contender former Vice President Joe Biden over possible corruption.
Democrats believe the transcript proves otherwise, namely that the president had tried to pressure Zelensky into investigating Biden for political purposes.
Both Zelensky and Trump have disputed this, with the Ukrainian president claiming his U.S. counterpart exerted no pressure over him and the president claiming his request had been about rooting out corruption, not hurting Biden.
Now just guess which side Romney has taken …
“I did read the transcript, it remains troubling in the extreme. It is deeply troubling,” he said during a brief interview on Wednesday with Jonathan Martin of The New York Times.
“What will you do beyond be troubled by it?” Martin then asked.
“Well there is a process that the House is pursuing,” Romney replied, presumably referencing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s launching of a formal impeachment inquiry against the president. “The Senate is also looking at the testimony of the whistleblower, so we are gathering facts.”
“So is it appropriate for the House to begin this inquiry on impeachment?” Martin pressed.
“That’s not advice I’m going to be providing to the House or the speaker; she is able to do what she believes is right,” the senator replied. “That’s up to her, but at this stage, the process is to continue to gather information, but clearly what we’ve seen from the transcript itself is deeply troubling.”

By no means is Giuliani the only conservative disgusted by Romney’s habitually turncoat behavior.
“@SenatorRomney is still a Never Trumper,” one critic chimed in on Twitter. “He hates him. Classic example of RINO. The only thing we hear from his is anti-Trump. Is he accomplishing anything?”
