Scarborough launches loony, bogus scheme to implicate Bill Barr in whistleblower ‘conspiracy’

Democrats and their media allies appear to be pushing all-in on the whistleblower complaint about a call between President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s president.

It appears to be understood that this may be their final attempt to impeach Trump ahead of the 2020 election, given the ensuing firestorm.

A step that would help clear the path would be to remove Attorney General William Barr from the equation, given his history of reasoned analysis, and MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough set his sights on the attorney general.

Citing the transcripts of the call released by the White House, Scarborough called attention to Trump referencing Barr while speaking with the Ukrainian leader.

“The money line in that section of the memo was where Donald Trump told the president of a foreign country, who he was withholding defensive weapons from, that he needed to coordinate not only with his personal lawyer on digging up dirt on Joe Biden, but that he needed to coordinate — it really it took my breath away. It’s shocking. You think after all of this time we would all be incapable of being shocked. And, yet, Donald Trump says talk to my attorney general. Talk to Attorney General William Barr,” Scarborough said.

“Talk to my attorney general,” he continued, “about digging up dirt on a domestic political rival while I’m holding up defensive weapons that are actually probably the only thing that would stop [Russian President] Vladimir Putin from going all the way to Kiev if he chose to.”

His argument pretty much confirms that President Trump saw his actions as legal, given his willingness to involve the nation’s top cop in the request to get to the bottom of not only Biden’s actions regarding Ukraine, but the actions of the former vice president’s son.

Unless, of course, you see every member of the Trump administration as corrupt.

Scarborough went on to say that as “bad” as that was, it gets worse.

The MSNBC co-host makes a Romper Room analogy to suggest the suspense is building.

“You know what’s worse?” he said. “That William Barr gets this from the DNI and what does he say? He doesn’t say what every self-respecting lawyer I’ve ever known in my entire life would say, which is to say ‘OK. it looks like the president is trying to put me in a conspiracy to work with a foreign power to smear one of your domestic political opponents, I better recuse myself.’ He doesn’t do that. Instead, he kills the complaint and says nothing to see here.”

The whole rant conveniently ignores what is readily seen as a Biden having engaged in a quid pro quo with Ukraine while he was vice president.

What really perturbs the Trump-hating cabal is that the attorney general is not in on their unhinged obsession with taking down Trump — but then, they are accustomed to James Comey and John Brennan at the helm of key government agencies.

“Rudy Giuliani may remind us of a crazy uncle — when you get the attorney general involved and then the attorney general looks like he’s part of the conspiracy and then he says there’s nothing to see here, move along, move along, suddenly this entire crisis is taken to a new level,” Scarborough said.

His actions show that this cabal will willingly destroy anyone who stands in their way of destroying Donald Trump.

Of course, we know Barr’s greater sin was not to pursue obstruction of justice charges in the aftermath of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

Co-host Willie Geist joined in to call into question Barr’s testimony on the Russia collusion accusation, before noting that Trump mentioned Giuliani and Barr 11 times in the phone call.

Geist acknowledged that Barr’s name was mentioned when Trump asked Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to look into the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike and the U.S. investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.
