Schumer claims Ukraine phone call transcript ‘validates’ impeachment inquiry

Democrats are grasping at straws more than ever, it seems.

Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer stepped forward on Wednesday to say he is fully behind the decision to launch an impeachment inquiry into a phone call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Despite Trump releasing the transcript of the call, which seems to expel any assertions that something illegal occurred, Schumer claims the transcript “validates” the impeachment inquiry.

“This document demonstrates that President Trump made it abundantly and redundantly clear to the president of the Ukraine that he wanted him to investigate his political opponent and further that he wanted him to work with Attorney General [William] Barr to make it happen,” the New York senator told reporters on Wednesday.

“This document absolutely validates the wisdom of Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi’s [D-Calif.] decision to open up a formal impeachment inquiry,” he added.

He later added, “In this telephone conversation, the president of the United States made an extraordinary request to the president of Ukraine, to investigate Trump’s political opponent and aid President Trump’s re-election campaign. Does anyone think this conversation was in the national interest? Or was it in the president’s personal political interest?”

Schumer has also called for the whistleblower complaint about the phone call to be released, which is expected to happen this week.

Schumer’s words look especially partisan in the wake of a joint press conference held by Trump and Zelensky where Zelensky confirmed there was no “pressure” applied to him in the call to investigate Biden or provide dirt on the former vice president.

Zelensky described the chat with Trump as “normal” and said “no one pushed” him to do anything.

This is also after a Ukrainian official had already stepped forward to say that nothing illegal was said on the phone call.

These facts don’t matter to Democrats as Pelosi is now leading the charge to impeach Trump, despite previously being one of the few Democrats to be colder to the idea than others.

In the joint press conference, Trump said Pelosi is now owned by far-left Democrats.

“She’s no longer speaker of the house,” he said.

Rudy Giuliani, who is Trump’s personal lawyer, has theorized that Democrats’ obsession with Trump’s nothing phone call is a distraction from the corruption of top officials in the Obama administration, including Biden, a man who has been accused of using his influence as vice president to help his son Hunter’s business dealings in places like Ukraine and China.

To add kindling to that fire, Biden already put out a troubling statement where he said he has never spoken to his son about his overseas business dealings. This contradicted a statement his son had previously made where he said he had in fact spoken to his father about his overseas business dealings on at least one occasion.

One of the people on the legal team of the whistleblower who originally reported the Trump/Ukraine phone call also has deep ties to the Democrat Party. The lawyer previously interned for both Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton.
