Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez insisted that Miami, Florida would be swallowed by climate change in a few years if major action is not taken to address the “crisis.”

She found a supportive crowd at an NAACP forum Wednesday that applauded after she said: “When it comes to climate change, what is not realistic is not responding to the crisis — not responding to the solution on the scale of the crisis. Because what’s not realistic is Miami not existing in a few years. That’s not realistic. So we need to be realistic about the problem.”

The radical congresswoman was responding to critics who have called her plans “not realistic.”

AOC rolled out her Green New Deal in February to much fanfare and adoration from the far-left. In a nutshell, it was a plan to reformulate reality, as it proposed the end of air travel and meat production, the elimination of fossil fuels, internal combustion engines and personal automobiles. It also sought to retrofit every building in the country to become “green” as well as to provide “economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”

The proposal was roundly ridiculed and when the resolution was brought up for a vote in March, not a single vote in favor was tallied.

Conservative studies found Green New Deal costs would be wildly exorbitant, such as one that found every household would be “on the hook for more than $70,000 in increased costs for electricity, upgrading vehicles and housing, and shipping in just the first year under the Green New Deal.”

Results from that study by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) were released in July.

“Economists and experts have been warning us for months about the devastating effects of the Green New Deal, and now we have the numbers to prove it,” said Daniel Turner, Executive Director of Power the Future. “This study only calculates a fraction of the cost of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s radical plan, which amounts to a socialist free-for-all with no regard for the American taxpayer. No family should be forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars in the first year alone to fund AOC’s ideological wish list. Thankfully, Americans see through the Green New Deal and are beginning to fight back.”

The study put down stunning data-based numbers that are beyond comprehension. Pennsylvania alone would face a total of $2-quadrillion (two-thousand trillions), or 500 times the annual federal budget, in costs to upgrade residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

As for Miami disappearing, AOC made a similar, though even more extreme claim about climate change in January when she declared the world would end in 12 years if climate change isn’t halted.

“I think that the part of it that is generational is that millennials and people, in Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us are looking up and we’re like, the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,” said AOC. “And your biggest issue is, your biggest issue is how are we going to pay for it? — and like this is the war, this is our World War II.”

One more time, in case you missed it … the punchline AOC delivered this week: “So we need to be realistic about the problem.”
