Cashing in: Museum to sell Trump ‘sharpie-gate’ bobblehead

Love him or hate him, President Donald Trump is good for business.

Even some of his most vocal haters — think Kathy Griffin — are trying to push products in an attempt to capitalize on the president’s popularity.

But now the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is attempting to capitalize on the biggest overblown controversy of the year: Sharpie-gate.

People can preorder a replica of Trump holding a map of the potential affected areas of Hurricane Dorian, including Alabama.

This all started with President Trump actually showing a map of Hurricane Dorian’s potential path. The map had been altered to include Alabama. Many have found themselves arguing over whether Alabama was ever an area that potentially could have been affected.

“We think this bobblehead is the perfect way to commemorate the #SharpieGate saga that has taken so many twists and turns over the past week,” Phil Sklar, Co-Founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, said in a press release. “This feels like one of those iconic moments that people will remember when looking back at Trump’s presidency, and this should be a fun bobblehead for people on both sides of the aisle.”

The bobblehead itself isn’t expected to actually be released until at least December of this year, but you can preorder one for yourself for $25. A total of 10 percent of the proceeds will reportedly go to the Humane Society of Grand Bahama.

The whole nothing burger that is sharpie-gate started with President Trump tweeting that the state would be “most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated.”

Only minutes after the president’s tweet, the National Weather Service tweeted, “Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian. We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama. The system will remain too far east.”

Trump doubled down on his position, hence the altered map with the sharpie addition.

Rear Admiral Peter Brown — Trump’s counter-terrorism adviser — actually wrote up a letter released by the White House that said that he’d been the one to brief the president early on about Alabama being a possible target.

Trump’s media critics have tried to turn the controversy into something fiery, but Republicans just can’t seem to muster up the energy to care about it when there are so many other issues to focus on.

“I could care less, this whole thing is a bunch of garbage,” Lindsay Graham said recently in an interview with Fox News when sharpie-gate came up. “The president did have a model where it could hit Alabama if it went through Florida. This is the Trump world.”

“The guy can’t do anything, with the guy getting criticized by a bunch of people who just hate his guts and I’m not playing that game,” the South Carolina senator added.

“The Failing New York Times stated, in an article written by Obama flunky Peter Baker (who lovingly wrote Obama book), ‘Even after the President forecast the storm to include Alabama.’ THIS IS NOT TRUE. I said, VERY EARLY ON, that it MAY EVEN hit Alabama. A BIG DIFFERENCE … FAKE NEWS. I would like very much to stop referring to this ridiculous story, but the LameStream Media just won’t let it alone. They always have to have the last word, even though they know they are defrauding & deceiving the public. The public knows that the Media is corrupt!” Trump last tweeted about the issue.

On a more humorous note, the president did tweet out a viral video of him using the now infamous Hurricane Dorian map. In the video, someone added a laser pointer and a cat. Watch and enjoy:
