Without actually saying his name, The Rolling Stones’ founding member Mick Jagger indirectly criticized President Donald Trump on Saturday for allegedly harming the environment and suggested he’s a polarizing, rude, and lying political figure.

In response, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee uppercut him via Twitter (more on this later).

Jagger made his remarks while appearing at the Venice Film Festival in Italy to promote “The Burnt Orange Heresy,” a just-released thriller in which he stars alongside Canadian actor Donald Sutherland.

The festival wound up being marred by protests by 300 to 400 activists who congregated at the event to reportedly raise awareness about the alleged threat of climate change.

Asked specifically about these protests, Jagger replied, “I’m absolutely behind that. I’m glad they’re doing that because they’re the ones who are going to inherit the planet.”

“We are in a very difficult situation at the moment, especially in the U.S., where all the environmental controls that were put in place — that were just about adequate — have been rolled back by the current administration so much that they are being wiped out,” he continued, taking aim at the Trump administration.

He added, “The U.S. should be the world leader in environmental control but now it has decided to go the other way.”

“America continues to lead the world in reducing our carbon footprint and overall energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, with every one of the Paris signatories lagging behind us,” Energy Secretary Rick Perry confirmed in a statement two months ago.

He repeated these points during an appearance on Fox News.

And then speaking the following month at the annual meeting of the American Legislative Exchange Council, he added that other countries — including the litany of nations that remained in the widely criticized Paris Accord — still have a lot of catching up to do.

“The U.S. now leads the world in producing both oil and natural gas, and at the same time reducing energy-related emissions,” he said. “That’s a story that all too often doesn’t get told. Those 190-something countries that signed on to that Paris Accord, I tell them, ‘When you catch up with us about reducing emissions, then you come talk to me about joining.'”

According to PolitiFact, his “claim about oil and gas production is accurate,” though the left-leaning fact-checker rated the statement “half-true” anyway because of “context.”

At the film festival, Jagger bemoaned the “incivility of political life” here and abroad.

“I’m not sure I was always against civility, but when you see it now the incivility of political life, which we see in so many countries including my own, especially this last week — and in other countries, particularly the U.S. — when you see this, it’s a bit of a sea change from what you were used to,” he said.

“I don’t mean that manners are everything. But the combination of all these things, where it’s going to lead us … polarization, rudeness and lying,” he added.

While Jagger didn’t name names,  it’s been assumed he’d been referring to both Trump and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and their willingness to fight fire with fire.

In the case of Johnson, last week he blasted anti-Semitic opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn as a “great big girl’s blouse,” a term used to describe weak, pathetic, sniveling men.

Over in the states meanwhile, the president has been endlessly blasting both the “fake news media” for lying about him and congressional Democrats for their radical policy proposals.

It appears that to Jagger, a known left-winger, these actions count as acts of incivility. It’s not clear how he feels about the violence being perpetrated by left-wing activists.

The singer’s ruminations have not been well received on social media. Leading the critics has been none other than Mike Huckabee.

Sutherland, the singer’s “The Burnt Orange Heresy” co-star, reportedly agreed with the rocker’s assessments on about everything.

“When you’re my age, when you’re 85 years old and you have children and grandchildren, you will leave them nothing if we don’t vote those people out of office in Brazil, in London, in Washington,” he said of conservative Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Johnson, and Trump, respectively. “They are ruining the world. We have contributed to the ruination of it, but they are ensuring it.”
