Save for one person, everybody on Fox News’ “The Five” appeared to agree Thursday that the CNN-hosted Democrat town hall on climate change was a hot mess worthy of derision and mockery.
“Stupid” was how co-host Jesse Watters described it, though he conceded that CNN definitely deserved props for allowing such an outlandish event to be held in the first place.

“I’d like to first thank CNN for providing us this amazing content, which we’re going to mock now for weeks,” he said jokingly. “And I believe the president would also like to thank CNN for asking some of these front runners specific questions which they actually answered.”
“For instance, would you like to ban the combustion engine? Yes. Would you like to ban natural gas drilling? Yes. Would you like to ban coal? Yes. Goodbye Pennsylvania, goodbye Michigan, goodbye Ohio. But it gets better. Would you like to ban offshore drilling? Yes. Goodbye Florida, and goodbye any chance you’ll ever have of flipping Texas blue.”
Watters was only slightly exaggerating. While the Democrat presidential candidates didn’t explicitly call for banning the combustion engine, for instance, former Vice President Joe Biden did say that he wants to “take combustion engine vehicles off the road as rapidly as we can.”
Meanwhile, fellow 2020 contender Sen. Kamala Harris reportedly called for an outright ban on fracking for oil and gas, while several of her peers called for banning offshore oil drilling.
“But it does get better,” Watters continued Thursday. “Would you like to ban factory farming? Yes. Goodbye Iowa, goodbye Wisconsin. The answers were stupid, and the questions were amazing for Republicans, and everybody should thank CNN.”
And don’t even get Watters started on Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders’ insanely radical plan to depopulate the world through forced abortions.
When asked to opine on his perceptions of the Wednesday town hall, guest co-host and comedian Michael Loftus said he agreed 100 percent with Watters’ view.
“It’s crazy!” he exclaimed in exasperation. “Seven hours of this on CNN? Seven hours!? It’s like CNN is a restaurant that the Mafia bought and they’re burning it down for the insurance money. I don’t know what their ratings were like.”
“The future seems so bleak. Could it sound any worse? We all need to be vegetarians living like it’s World War II, drinking out of straws that don’t work. Give me Trump any day of the week. Make America great again. I don’t want to live in this bleak — it’s like ‘The Hunger Games!'”
When then asked for his opinion, co-host Juan Williams became the lone voice of dissent.
First, he denied that the Democrats had said what they’d said. When pressed by Watters, he finally admitted that the Democrats had indeed said what they’d said, but argued that what they’d said was good because they were ideas — and apparently, Republicans have no ideas.
“Republicans have no ideas when it comes to dealing with climate control, so Republicans say, that idea is ridiculous!” he complained. “Democrats say, let’s talk about this, because guess what, overwhelmingly, 80 percent plus of Democrats and 60 percent of independents say climate change is a big issue we want to deal with — it’s an emergency. So here are some of ideas. None of these ideas are radical, by the way.”
The latter remark was so shocking that co-host Jedediah Bila exclaimed, “Whaaaaaaaaaat!?
“What” indeed, especially since the poll numbers cited by Williams were misleading. While it’s true that polls show that a large chunk of the population is worried about climate change, recent polling data shows that an overwhelming 68 percent majority of Americans aren’t willing to pay a measly $10 extra per month in higher electric bills to curb alleged climate change.
If most Americans aren’t willing to pay just $10 a month to “deal with” climate change, then what makes Williams think they’re willing to give up their cars, let alone pay exorbitant prices for their electricity? Regardless, Bila continued the discussion by pointing out that everything Watters had said was true.
“You’re saying that all the things Jessie said sounded crazy, but he repeated all the things they said,” she noted. “Ban plastic straws, ban fracking, ban offshore drilling, bringing up abortion in the context of a question about population control. You don’t think that’s fringe? Talking about American taxpayer-funded abortions not only in the United States but elsewhere? These concepts are crazy!”
Speaking of “crazy” concepts, here’s a list of some of the other outlandish ideas proposed at the town hall Wednesday:
