A dramatic video captured the reaction at a Mobile, Alabama, high school football game on Friday evening when a 17-year-old opened fire after a fight.
At least 10 people, aged 15 to 18, were shot at the game and Deangelo Parnell, 17, was arrested and charged with nine counts of attempted murder, according to WKBN-TV.
Those sitting in the lower sections of Ladd Peebles Stadium scramble for cover after pandemonium breaks out among the players on the sideline. Folks sitting higher up look on, trying to understand what’s happening.
The video was shared online by Simone Eli, a reporter at Birmingham-based WIAT CBS 42.
“This is just horrific to watch from Ladd-Peebles Stadium,” Eli tweeted. “Football coaches instructing players to take cover, fans hiding under the stands from a suspected shooting. This is a high school football game and should be a place of fun competition for everyone! Not violence!”

Parnell, a student at LeFlore High School, turned himself in to police early Saturday morning.
The Mobile Police Department released a video of the suspect after he surrendered.
The caption read: “MPD Arrest: 17-year-old Deangelo Parnell was arrested early Saturday morning after being identified as the suspect involved in a shooting that left 10 victims injured at Ladd Stadium on Friday night, August 29, 2019. Parnell is charged with (9 Counts) of Attempted Murder.”

Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said Parnell pulled out a gun after a fight and started “indiscriminately shooting,” WKRG-TV reported.
“This is a cowardly act by an individual who didn’t know how to deal with a situation,” Battiste said at a news conference.
“Why are young people bringing this type of violence to public events?” the police chief added. “We’re gonna have to be more aggressive on our end as a city as to how we hold these individuals accountable.”
He said they believe there were adults who knew something was going to happen at the game.
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson also issued a statement on Saturday morning through social media.
“Our children and their families deserve to enjoy a high school football game or any public event without the thought of gun violence. As a community, we will heal. As a community, we have to get the guns out of the hands of our youth,” Stimpson said.
