A St. Louis man has become a cult hero for the way he chose to respond when an armed robber waltzed into a local bar and sought to relieve everybody of their possessions.
Surveillance footage from Behrmann’s Tavern shows that the moment the armed robber entered the bar with a shotgun last Wednesday, everybody began freaking out — some tried to flee to the back, while others slid off their chairs and onto the floor to hide — except for one man.
That man was regular customer Tony Tovar, and as you can see for yourself in the footage below, he wasn’t about to let the robber’s BS ruin his night out on the town:

Tovar remain perched comfortably in his seat as relaxed as a pig in mud. He literally just kept sipping his beer, even as another frightened patron slowly raised his head up from the floor to see if perhaps he’d misjudged the situation and there wasn’t an armed robber strolling through the place. But as he soon found out, there most certainly was still a robber present.
Naturally, that robber, later identified as Kevin Jerome Moore, first approached Tovar with the false assumption that he’d be an easy target. *buzzer sound* FALSE!
When Moore tried to snatch Tovar’s phone from him, Tovar fought back. And amazingly enough, he won, and Moore gave up and began looking for other potential victims. And as he did this, Tovar pulled out a cigarette and began puffing it like a man without a care in the world.
Who in the world does that!? Someone who’s fed up — that’s who.
“I said not another punk trying to pull a punk move,” he would later say to local station KSDK. “I’m so tired of people in South City thinking they can control people because they wanna muscle their way in with firearms or attitudes or some sort of aggression.”
And so when it came time to show out or shut up, he showed out like a boss, not that he recommends others follow his courageous but dangerous path.
“It’s probably not your best interest if they have a loaded … firearm, I wouldn’t suggest that to just anybody,” he said.
Perhaps, but on the flip side, he was the only one who went home that night with all of his possessions and money …

Moore has since been captured and charged.
“A man has been charged in the early Wednesday morning robbery of Behrmann’s Tavern,” KSDK confirmed on Friday. “Kevin Jerome Moore is facing four counts each of armed criminal action and first-degree robbery.”
The report continued, “According to a probable cause statement from the police department, Moore has prior convictions of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.”
Meanwhile, Tovar has become a social media sensation over his “balls of steel”:
That dude has balls of steel or has nothing left to lose. Either way, ice flows in his veins. https://t.co/Ku6iqJWl3F

??? Savage ???

Note how the latter Twitter user described Tovar’s behavior as “savage.” If he only knew …
After the story went viral, Kansas City radio station KMBZ show host Dana Wright spoke with the owner of Behrmann’s Tavern and obtained one of the most stunning quotes of all time.
“We just spoke with the bar owner on @KMBZradio — NO WORDS…. We asked what the heck the customer is saying while he’s being robbed?” she tweeted Thursday afternoon. “AND I QUOTE – ‘He says ‘I’m married to &*%$ ____. Go ahead. Shoot me. I don’t give a ____.’ Then he lights the cig.”
Now THAT is savage …

The owner, identified as Thomas Kimack, 58, also admitted that smoking isn’t allowed in his bar, not that he took issue with Tovar lighting up during an armed robbery.
In an interview with Oxygen.com, however, the bartender who’d been on shift the night of the robbery — Dustin Krueger, 40 — was a little critical.
“All I was thinking was, ‘Man, he’s going to get everybody shot,'” he said. “As soon as a guy walked in with a gun, he was like, ‘Whatever, you’re going to shoot me or you’re not, and I’m going to sit here, and enjoy my beer, and have a cigarette while you’re doing it.'”
But now that the ordeal’s over, Tovar’s become a local cult hero, Krueger added.
“That man can drink for free in about any bar in St. Louis,” he said. “He’s the talk of the town. There’s not many people that would do that.”
Except maybe Chuck Norris, but what wouldn’t Chuck do!?
