After escaping Hurricane Dorian by fleeing to her lavish Caribbean vacation home via a private jet on Friday, model and actress Sofía Vergara of the ABC series “Modern Family” posted a photo to social media that some feel was “insensitive” to those who can’t afford to just leave.
Uploaded to Instagram, the photo showed the model and members of her immediate family sitting comfortably in a private jet headed out of Florida.

The post rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
“I find it sad that you publish this, when thousands of people don’t have the opportunity to do the same. [G]od bless all those people who are and will be in the trajectory of the hurricane,” one commenter reportedly wrote in Spanish, according to People magazine.
“How sad, ostentatious and mocking of those who are in the path of hurricanes,” another added.
“Must be nice here I sit wondering if I will have to evacuate and will my pets be safe will I have electricity soon after the storm and will everything in my fridge have to be thrown away and I have to spend my money to replace,” a third reportedly added.
Similar criticism can be seen on Twitter, where some have even lobbed Bible quotes at Vergara:

What may have admittedly played a role in boosting the anger against Vergara is a previous Instagram photo she uploaded Wednesday. That photo depicted her and another woman sipping luxury drinks from a lavish beach location somewhere in Florida.
“Waiting for Dorian,” the caption for that post reads, albeit in Spanish.
Look:
The fact that she packed up her belongings and departed Florida two days later suggests that the original post had almost been written in a mocking way — because clearly, her intent hadn’t been to just settle in deep and wait for Dorian. Her intent had been to flee.
But for every batch of critics, there was at least one defender willing to point out that Hurricane Dorian’s impending landfall wasn’t Vergara’s fault. Nor is it shameful for her to use the wealth that she’d rightfully acquired to escape the hurricane’s wrath.
“Sad.. Haters gonna hate.. You dont have a plane and/or her fame.. But her first thing to do is Family ! You all would do the same… Work hard and get a billion$ role on a T.V. show and you can do the same..,” one Instagram user opined.
“You and your family are perfect?? (PS stop hatin y’all don’t know how hard it is to do what she does, so what if she goes on vacation, she’s allowed to. #stophate #bringpositivity,” another added.

All the hubbub over Vergara’s Instagram activities comes amid her ongoing court battle with her ex-fiance, Nick Loeb, over her frozen embryos.
“‘Modern Family’ star Sofia Vergara is accusing her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb of lying under oath in his attempt to bring their frozen embryos to term,” The Blast reported Wednesday, citing court documents it’s reviewed.
“Vergara is demanding Loeb and his lawyer, Jalesia ‘Jasha’ McQueen, be sanctioned in their never-ending court battle. The actress believes her ex and his attorney ‘intentionally withheld’ documents and evidence. She also believes Loeb made a false statement under oath and his lawyer ‘knew the statements to be false.'”

While she’s been able to successfully flee Dorian’s wrath, it’s unclear if she’ll ever able to successfully flee the wrath of her clearly scorned ex-lover.
